Holiday message: Atheists dub Jesus a ‘myth’ on Times Square billboard
“Most Christians are really atheists who feel trapped in their family’s religion,” Silverman told FoxNews.com. “They need not be Christian to enjoy the holiday season.”
The ad is the latest in holiday-themed billboards put up by the group every year. In 2011, American Atheists posted a variety of ads as part of a “Myth” campaign in three states with images of Santa, Jesus, Greek god Poseidon, and the Devil with the phrase, “37 million Americans know MYTHS when they see one.”
!snip!
Most atheists are outsiders looking in. They are empty vessels with no life.
They are also empty scrotums. The day they put up a billboard calling Allah and Muhammad a myth is the day I’ll start taking their ‘atheist’ crusade for face value. They are anti-Christian bigots.

Watch how this worm misleads when asked if they’ve done anti-Ramadan posters. If not for the quick follow-up by, of all people, Kirsten Powers, this worm would have left the impression that they had when he says, “we’ve done billboards in Arabic.”

So what god do they believe in if they don’t believe that Jesus is nothing but a myth. My saviour is alive and well.It must really suck to be an atheist and believe in nothing or everything. Nihilism is dead, God isn’t!

On the Fox vid…
North Carolina just got sued by the ACLU over the “Choose Life” license plates. They won because my state didnt have a pro choice option. My local talk radio station interviewd the ACLU guy and the host brought up the “save the sea turtle” plate and said he wants a “I like turtle soup” plate…the lawyer actually responding by saying those are ok because there are no groups that are dedicated to killing or destroying turtles…I nearly wrecked the truck when I heard that!
What a sick world we live in…

Hey, doofus, without “the myth,” there’s no reason for “the merry.”
Kirsten Powers is quite surprising occasionally. It’s gotta be because of her Coptic Christian husband.
Totally O/T — all of the sudden, my computer’s only showing me about two of every five (on average) pictures or videos in posts — blank white space instead, no box or little “X” inside of a box. Can any computer geeks tell me why some come in and some don’t, and is there some setting I hit by mistake?

Its like the godless need to be reassured how much smarter they are than the believers by being constantly annoying. I mean it can’t be cheap to buy space in Time Square during the weeks before Christmas.
If you don’t believe in God, then good for you and have the manners to keep it to yourself. But you’re an idiot to waste your money advertising your lack of faith. Why aren’t you spending your money on some selfish narcissist act.
Oh, wait I think I get it now. You atheist are angry that you’re not going to get any presents from anyone for Christmas, and being self centered jerks you’ve got to scream to the world that you’re being left out of everyone else’s celebration. Ha, Ha, Ha you’ve wasted your money and it isn’t going to make you feel any better about not having an after life.

There are atheists against allah, and they have a thousand times the courage, conviction and intellect of that smug, butt-hurt little pill. I am not an atheist, but I can understand why these folks are skeptical:

Rush always asks why are the offended always right? It’s amazing to me that we capitulate the crap like this. In Pennsylvania this week a Federal judge ruled that the “choose life” license plates are not allowed because PA does not offer a “choose abortion” alternative view to be available as well. What nonsense. In NYS we have a “Keep Kids Drug Free” license plate, and last I checked, the NYS DMV does not provide the opposing, “Eight-Ball for Junior” license plate.
I’m sick of the offended and close-minded always winning.

1. This is not about whether athiests believe in God. It is about cultural marxism taking the form of radical, activist atheism and it takes the form of anti-God and anti-Christ because that is the bedrock of American exceptionalism. Once the cultural marxists have eroded and eradicated the Christian God from the public square then the one true god is government. Americans no longer will look to God for personal virtue and personal accountability but instead seek all guidance from government-appointed *experts* and live under the arbitrary and capricious government-approved (man’s) Law. And, as we’ve seen, American law’s Lady Justice has been peeping out from under her blindfold and the thumb of Progtard, activist judgement, “social justice” has been tilting the scale in favor of the things about which cultural marxists care most — skin color, gender, sexual preference, population control, gaia-like radical eco-conservation. Above all, centralized power by a few over the lives of the many (see also: any absolute dictatorship from the 20th C.)
2. The reason cultural marxists (aka progtards) don’t vilify islam is because they are currently operating under the maxim, “The enemy of my enemy is my friend.” See 1, above. This is not a general assault on Christianity, but a specific action against America’s faithful. Islam’s attack on Christianity is a frontal assault and for that we can at least credit them with their honesty. Cultural marxists are using atheism as a guise for their attack on American Christianity.

So they’re saying Jesus is a myth but Santa isn’t?
My guess is they’d get more outrage if they put up a billboard saying Santa isn’t real.

ESL…He is Tunisian. Read his story and the stories of others like him who don’t kowtow to Islam. If you want atheists who understand where the real existential threat is, and not some petty atheist dilettante acting out in a well-padded environment against some Sunday School trauma they remember from thirty years ago, this guy’s blog is a good start. Consider that to be an apostate from islam takes courage and an independent spirit, and atheism may be just a waystation on the journey to redemption.

This guy is using atheism as a means of perpetuating the myth that Christianity is verboten in political discourse under the intentional misreading of the First Amendment.
I think we should all pray for him — that he comes to know God this season of Christmas. There are no greater voices for the existence of God than former nonbelievers.
It would be too bad if he remained a Worm(wood) for the rest of eternity.

Myths are not factually true but often they are psychologically true. Jesus is the microcosmic version of the macrocosmic sun that provides an exit from the ever revolving lunar consciousness (life/death cycle). Read Joseph Campbell.

It’s been a long time since I heard Joseph Campbell invoked. I thought his popularity had peaked already. Come to think of it, it did.
