Auction
During the last auction there were some comments about the size of the painting, 2′x3′.
People were asking if I would consider doing a more modest sized painting.
They were also saying that I should get a better way to receive payments (other than paypal.)
Both things have been addressed. (And I can guarantee Christmas Delivery!)
Here is a 12″x16″ painting titled : I Know a Place
It’s acrylic on canvas board.

I will leave this auction open until Tuesday 9PM ET.
I have a reserve in mind that if not surpassed I will rescind the offer to sell.
Good luck, I hope you like it as much as the last buyer. (He has a nice story about the lady in the frame shop. If he sees this maybe he will tell it in the comments.)

It is a pretty picture, though.
Reminds me of a page in a story book when I was a little kid.

The trees remind me–somewhat inexplicably–of the ones in the last section of the original “Fantasia”, shown while the “Ave Maria” music is playing.

I am the majestic cattail. Its abundant foliage is quite clearly done in homage to both my youthful vigor and physical appeal. The lesser cattail represents all others, of whom I am so much better. And it’s not just the wine cooler talking this time.
I must have this painting, $200.

Being the winner of the previous auction and having received my painting, I can’t let the bid stay at $200.00. My bid is $250.00.

By virtue of his Purple Prose, Professor Ponytail clearly deserves to have this Poignant Painting (you’ll have to Prodigiously Pony up your bid, though, PP, to get ahead of joe6pak, who is Perfectly Pleased with the Previous Picture).

I’ll tell you what, I am not an artist and I don’t know much about art, but when BFH put up for auction the first ever BFH signed painting a few weeks ago there was no way I was not going to bid. I even considered going higher than the bid that ultimately won. In fact I did now that I think about it. Anyway, I received my painting in a timely manner and it was in good shape, and exactly what I purchased, a painting signed by bigfurhat. It’s great. That’s was good enough for me. I brought it down to a local frame shop that Mrs. 6pak has used and liked and set it down while the ladies finished with the customers they had already been talking to. A lady probably in her 60s came up and I pulled my painting out of my custom carboard box and told her I would like to get it framed. Her reaction was great, for some reason the painting kind of caught her off guard and she said something like, “wow…that is so interesting”. You could tell she really liked it, and she spent quite a bit of time putting together the right frame. It is going to look really nice. I’ll send a pic once I get it but it’s a couple weeks out. In the mean time I might win this one too.

My barista and my graduate research assistant agree, I am the subject. Compare the near and distant floating leaves. It’s obviously an ironic treatment of my commissioned paper on the feebleness of subsidiarity and liberty as substitutes for social justice under state control. $300.

Nice painting. It reminds me of the pond at the house I lived in in Hyde Park NY in the early 70′s. I caught a lot of fish in that pond…when it wasn’t frozen over.

The trees represent a counter argument to my thesis on similar sex marriage, wherein I take the elegant position that resolving a professed belief in the privacy of an intimate relationship against a craving for community and state supervision of that same relationship is a natural manifestation of the correctness of my ideas. $350.

Very nice, BFH.
The trees and reflections remind me of one of my very favorite photographs, “The Pond – Moonlight” by Steichen.
And that is good company…a print sold in 2006 for $2.9 million.

The wife is an artist and I am a photographer, so most of the artwork in our home is our own.
I have only ever once purchased a piece outside our own work, and that was a painting called Safely Home commissioned by VOM- Voice of the Martyrs.
That said, I would have made an exception as I would love to have an original BFH painting, but alas, I recently lost my job of 8 years.
Nice work BFH- both of them.

@Mary and Freedom,
Thanks, but no worries. Looks like I’ll be heading to Tokyo for a job. For the last 7 years I have been wanting to get out of this God forsaken province and it looks like God may have very well provided me with the opportunity.
In point of fact, I lost my job as a result of my sin against God, and I have been rebuked, but in His mercy, I was not crushed. It was a blessing as we say, in disguise.
I only made mention of it because as a regular, I wanted to bid but could not.

@Jack D–
The deep love of God is beyond understanding. I also have been saved, through His rebuke, by the hand of His mercy. A seeming contradiction, but only to our worldly vision.
May He bless and guide you, wherever you go.

Granted, the aquatic reflection is a celebration of Bill Schulz’s underappreciated first post-adolescent non-sexual use of the suction cup, as so averred by my third ex-life partner. Perhaps more on this later. But briefly, I take it only as the painting’s MacGuffin, as it were. It remains all about me. $400.

Boobie,
LOL, you would think so. No actually the God forsaken province I refer to is Cubec (quebec).
Believe it or not, in spite of some of the most liberal states you guys have, according to the Fraser Institute ( a think tank, not unlike the Heritage Foundation) Cubec ranks the bottom of the barrel in ALL counts in their 2010 report on the economic and social freedoms in North America!
Ps. what is the current bid? $400.00?
