    That can’t be barbed wire.

Barb is all that good unless the wire is closer together. Looks good for cattle, but obviously not jumpers like deer & dogs.

Note no lower wire to keep out dogs & pigs.

Luckily it made it through, I’ve seen many a deer not survive their encounter with wire fences.

I’m surprised that the deer went through the fence, since I’ve seen deer jump a fence higher than that from a standstill.

It is just twisted wire but wonder though why there’s orange ribbon marking the wire fence? Leads me to believe it is blocking access to a trail, etc.

Up snowmobiling N. Wisconsin, it’s common to come flying around a bend and startle deer. I’ve seen them jump through impressively confined areas and other times be so freaked out they run down the trail a half mile. We’d drive up there on a Friday after work which usually also put us into prime deer hitting time, especially near the potato farms. Don’t ever honk at one standing on the roadway. Most of the time they’re startled by the horn and when they try to run or jump, all the gracefulness in the above picture evaporates and the deer is flopping like a crappie on the asphalt. Fun at 65mph with a trailer, they go any which way once they regain footing, just aim for where you last saw him.

Yup calvin, used the strategy a few times with animals, once with a car and a few other times on my mtn. bike. It doesn’t work too good for duck hunting though!

That is some great photography. Look at the fur that was shed flying off the top! You can’t get that detail with just a point and shoot camera.

These castration fences do keep a lid on the deer population
