If ecotardism were really about saving energy, we’d have outlets with on/off switches to combat electricity vampires like microwaves and DVD players that consume over 95% of their energy while they’re not in use. How many completely unnecessary LEDs and clocks stay on in your house 24/7?

One of you EE types get to work designing a switched outlet with plugs that fits over a standard grounded wall duplex. I want 2% off the top.

All of those outlets were developed to respond to legislations written to reduce the risk of electrocution. The worst are the european (EU) mandated plugs. The US design was established over 100 years ago, prior to all the safetly legislation, and is grandfathered into UL type safety standards. It would never be allowed if it was newly proposed today.
Japan has only one voltage (100 voltage), but the country is split into two frequencies (50 and 60 Hz) because the country was rebuilt after WWII with Brittish influence on one end, and USA influence on the other….

Great post. Did you even know that now you can buy viagra in Toronto online? It is as simple as that. I also have a discount coupon for great sex toys gifts for this Christmas season. Let me know if you want me to post them here.
