Drunken woman found at end of trail of soiled paper towels
A 59-year-old Volusia County woman was extremely intoxicated this week while she damaged three patrol cars and a parked semi with her vehicle while fleeing from deputies in Flagler County — the second time in a week she’s been accused of trying to escape from authorities.
Deborah Brinkman of Ormond Beach caught the attention of a worker in a Walmart parking lot early Monday because she was driving around and throwing out paper towels soiled with her own waste, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies found Brinkman in a vehicle parked between two other vehicles in the parking lot, but she drove away and tried to run over a deputy when officers told her to turn off her vehicle.
A deputy was hit by his patrol car door when Brinkman’s vehicle ran into his.
“The woman then drove through the Walmart parking lot before turning on to Cypress Point Parkway and then onto Cypress Edge Parkway. Deputies were able to box the woman’s vehicle in using their patrol cars on the parking lot of the Golden Coral Restaurant,” a Sheriff’s Office report said.
