Change on veterans’ gun rights lights fire

Coburn wants decisions by judge rather than VA for impaired troops

A major defense-spending bill hit an unexpected bump on its journey through the U.S. Senate over an amendment on veterans’ gun rights, which devolved into a heated floor debate and foreshadows a potential battle over Democrats’ vows to tweak the filibuster rules in the clubby, traditionally collegial body.

Sen. Tom Coburn, Oklahoma Republican, wants veterans who have been deemed “mentally incompetent” to have their cases adjudicated by a judge — rather than the Department of Veterans Affairs, as happens currently — and argued that veterans who simply cannot support themselves financially are needlessly given the label and, as such, cannot buy or possess firearms.

“We’re not asking for anything big,” Mr. Coburn said Thursday evening on the Senate floor. “We’re just saying that if you’re going to take away the Second Amendment rights … they ought to have it adjudicated, rather than mandated by someone who’s unqualified to state that they should lose their rights.”

The VA is a bloated corrupt agency that denies thousands of veterans their education benfits every month. Why should they be trusted with determining who is mentally impaired??

Democrats want to categorize ALL veterans as mentally impaired and therefore can be denied constitutional rights like they’re denied education benefits.

All those who voted for 0bama should be deemed “mentally incompetent”

Coburn realizes that a judge can provide at least a semblance of “due process”, you know, that pesky constitutional requirement?

Which is exactly why the Dems will fight it.

Why are gun rights for Veterans even on the table for discussion by our government? Maybe I’m missing something here. This country lets “ragheads” (my definition- Arabic and Muslim); into this county all day long and many of them have the intensions of destroying our western culture and our citizens just because we are Infidels. Our government, meaning the liberal dummycrats, have kissed the brown eyes (the one that stinks not the one that winks) of these disgusting animals. Allowing them to run amuck and plan the next terrorist attack. And to beat all Janet “From Another Planet” Napolitano listed soldiers coming home from Iraq and Afghanistan as possible disgruntle domestic terrorists. Funk that Biznatch.

The laws that cover all of this are already in place. It is a Federal offense to sell a gun to a mentally incompetent person. When politicians revisit existing gun laws without elimination of the law in mind, be wary.

This is part of the insidious proglodyte scheme to disarm our native-son warriors. Military members claiming benefits are urged to add “PTSD” to their med forms under the false encouragement that they’ll get more benefits in the long run — what it does is say the soldier is mentally unstable and not to be trusted with a gun.

The slimy progs never sleep. They’re proof that Satan is always busy.
