Brave: Maria Santos Gorrostieta has been found beaten to death at the side of a road. She defied Mexico's powerful drug gangs and survived two assassination attempts, the first of which claimed the life of her husband

‘Please spare my little girl’: How Mexico’s fearless female mayor sacrificed herself to save her daughter’s life as she was abducted by drug gang, tortured and executed

The woman mayor who was kidnapped and murdered by a Mexican drug gang pleaded with her attackers for her young daughter’s life, it emerged today.

Maria Santos Gorrostieta, who had already survived two assassination attempts, was driving the child to school at around 8.30am when she was ambushed by a car in the city of Morelia.

The 36-year-old was hauled from her vehicle and physically assaulted as horrified witnesses watched, according to newspaper El Universal.
They described how she begged for her child to be left alone and then appeared to get into her abductors’ car willingly.

The little girl was left wailing as her mother was driven away on Monday November 12.

For the next week, her frantic family waited by the phone for a ransom call that never came.
Gorrostieta’s body – stabbed, burned, battered and bound at wrist and ankle – would finally be found eight days on dumped by a roadside in San Juan Tararameo, Cuitzeo Township.

She left behind her daughter and two sons as well as her second husband Nereo Delgado Patinoran.

Why are we sending troops to Somalia et al. when we should be sending them to Mexico?

I think of our elected leaders who flap around like wet hens and squall like teething infants because someone called a 30-something college coed a slut. They get the vapors at the slightest insult and take to the television cameras to upchuck their outrage for the smallest perceived racist slight.

And they think they’ve got a very difficult job and we should all admire them.

    Stupid f*ckers.

    stupid americans

if we could JUST GROW UP AND LEGALIZE “stabbed, burned, battered and bound at wrist and ankle – would finally be found eight days on dumped by a roadside” then we could TAX IT (DUH) and pay off all our debts and deficits…

oh, wait, maybe the dems could go down to mex heee co and make them sanctuary cities that whatever little crime committed would ONLY be committed in the sanctuary cities – and wouldn’t cost any extra do run the govt in 3,4,or 5 different languages

    legalize it, yeah, that;s answer

The tragic death of a very courageous woman. Would that our politions have such courage to their convictions.
    May her soul have peace.
Thoughts and prayers to her family.

And look at John Boehner! He is so freaking scared to death of TELEVISION PUNDITS that he folds like a bad poker hand at the mere thought that ANDREA MITHCELL might say something bad about him or CHRIS MATTHEWS might call him a bad name. Our elected officials are COWARDS. They are pathetic, self-absorbed, narcissistic cowards.

and for those that didn’t click the link, do so to see all the bullet holes in her body. It was the very same drug cartels Fast and Furious were arming that killed her and he husband.

I read that she had a federal security detachment, and later a state security squad, but both were withdrawn at some point this year.
I wonder why, and by whom?
Sounds like a case of “follow the (drug) money!”

    RIP.

It takes a real evil piece of shit to hurt a beautiful woman like that. And they didn’t stop there.
Our politicians will never think seriously about closing the border until well after all that violence has spilled over to their side.

Thank you US DoJ and Obama voters. You’ve bought and paid for, aided and abetted, the brutal death of this woman and countless thousands of her fellow countrymen.

But like one of those people you admire once said “You have to break some eggs to make an omelet”.

This brave woman is silent testimony to what is right with Mexico. It is a shame that such a huge part of Mexico is a violent and corruption riddled sham of a country.

They only way you’re going to stop the cartels is to either stop or service the demand from the US for their product. Stopping the demand isn’t going to happen as there are just too many people willing to try it. I know I’m in the minority here but I say legalize grass, hash, hash oil and the other marijuana derivatives. Control it by creating a limited number of stores (the right to gain a franchise means the person has to meet a strict federal Request For Proposal) that freely sells to eighteen and up, make it illegal to buy any stock grown outside the US, tax it as you would liquor and make the penalties for Crystal, Heroin, Cocaine and the like so onerous (life at hard labour on one traffiking charge) that even mexican peasants wouldn’t try it. Grass is so ingrained within society that you’ll never get rid of it but there still is a chance to snuff out most of the other illega drugs that do much more damage.
