Mrs. Brown You Have a Lovely Outlook
Milton Friedman – Welfare
Things have changed a bit since this was filmed. Welfare has been ‘reformed.” It’s easier, more efficient, no one to answer to. It’s GREAT!

I had ONE teacher like him.
12th grade, Business Concepts, Mr Stark. Back in Nineteen mumbletysomething. I miss him.
The world needs more people like Mr Friedman and Mr Stark.

We have proven that poverty cannot be eradicated by giving people money. We have also proven that it is far easier to create a welfare class than it is to eliminate a welfare class. We are now in the process of intentionally destroying a vibrant economy in order to prove the maxim that a democracy like ours cannot exist once a majority of people discover that they can vote themselves largess from the public treasury.
Part of Friedman’s genius lies in the fact that he accepted human nature as part of his theories on economics. Marx, and to a large extent Keynes, devised economic theories that sounded wonderful on paper, but ignored human nature and were thus doomed to failure. Not to say that our current politicians have any noble intentions – they are merely using public money to buy off their constituents so that they can remain in office – but this is a finite end game that will not end well.

Wyatt, it should be up to us, The People, to make ensure that the game ends in the worst way for them, those petty politicians who are RIDING this down toward that end.

Yes, Wyatt. The most recurring errant dynamic in the ideas of my most lefty friend is the total ignorement of natural human behaviour and, in particular, it’s survival instincts.
He not only thinks it is something that can be controlled but something that MUST be controlled.
Never seeing that the endeavour is wrong on the most basic level of human freedoms.
He has great disrespect for people making their own choices. It’s fair to say he considers the masses as we do cattle. To be managed.
Regardlees of what the ‘cattle’ may or may not think.

The welfare system is a pry-bar being used to change socialism to communism.

Ah, can government control people and make their choices for them? On one level, the answer is “yes” – governments can tell people what to do, where to live, and how to behave; we see examples of this world wide in totalitarian systems. Point a gun at people, and they will normally do what you tell them to do.
But what type of society will result? Again, historical and world wide experiences indicate that such people will do the minimum required of them to exist under such a system. If there is no potential for a payoff, then people will not take risks, they will not innovate, they will not go out of their way to support the system anymore than is minimally required, and they will contribute only the bare minimum mandated by the state.
Leftists believe that they know what is best for people and society. I believe I know what is best for people and society. The difference between us is that I know that I do not know what all people want, and I am content to let people make their own choices. Leftists, on the other hand, are offended if someone does not believe what they do, and the answer is to force people to conform their beliefs.

Again, scratch the surface on any lefty and you’ll always find a fascist. The frustrating thing about the ugly “American” fascists is that they side with the unproductive, unmotivated, and content to stay that way constituency.
Notice they never apply their penchant for force upon those who need it the most.

What we can learn from Mr Friedman is that people who see the dangers can warn until the cows come home and they are usually vilified and denounced as racists and Tea Party kooks and their warnings are ignored. Yet, the truth is there for all to see. Mr Friedman could see very clearly what was going to happen and instead of people heeding his words, they went even further and made people even more dependent. Oh well, good bye America as you know it – but don’t listen to me!

There are two types of people who desire socialism: those who think they will be in charge and those who think they will get everything for free.
