yeah Tim, Barbara Eden was quite the hottie back then and fodder for a prepubescent lad’s dreams, eh.
i share the same b-day with larry, along with his former penchant for alcohol. but champagne? crikey.
Have a good flight, Major Nelson, and thanks for all the laughs.

For being such a lovable scoundrel, it seems Larry was quite the commie — despite a four-year stint in the U.S. Air Force. Check out the comments at the L.A. Times: http://lat.ms/QgPrWF

I once had a job where I could drink all day but not having the luxury of playing J. R. Ewing, had to stop and become grounded in reality, something Hagman didn’t do until faced with the terminal result of his excess. And even after giving up the bad habits, still able to afford his eccentricies.
Handsome, but not especially talented, Larry was very lucky. I mean, Barbara Eden? I’d “play” next to her, even today. And who didn’t love to hate his Dallas character? So what? What did he ever accomplish that made the world a better place?
Just another big ZERO of a life, except unlike the rest of us in the real world, he got to play act his way through it.

I remember hearing that his liver was ruined by hepatitis-c and he had a liver transplant some years back. I’m surprised he made it this long. I only watched him on Genie.

@F.D.R. — Mary Martin is in a class by herself.
I don’t want to hear “commie”, etc., from anybody.
We all loved J.R. Ewing and, for those of us old enough, we loved Major Nelson.
Long before we associated actors with politics.
Give the man the credit due.

He was excellent in the movie, The Eagle Has Landed, But then the entire cast was excellent in that one.
