Wind power is a joke

Wind power is a joke. It makes no sense — none, nada.
The wind power lobbyists say it creates jobs. Well I have a better way to make jobs based on the same principles: let’s train dogs to walk on treadmills to generate electricity. Think of all the jobs for dog-trainers, dog food companies, and dog-walkers. Think of all the jobs at dog retirement homes for dogs too old to work. Think about all the do-gooders collecting a salary for looking out for the welfare of the dogs. Think about the attorneys employed in filing class action suits against dog-exploiters. Think about the jobs in organizations opposing the use of genetically modified dogs. Dogs on treadmills are much better than windmills for creating jobs.
Okay, windmills are not absolutely useless. If you have no alternative because you live 20 miles from the nearest power line, then feel free to get a windmill. Don’t forget the banks of storage batteries to keep your TV running when the wind isn’t blowing.
Windmills don’t work when the wind isn’t blowing. The wind power lobbyists don’t emphasize that point. There are very few places where the wind always blows, and, not surprisingly, hardly anybody lives near those mostly unpleasant places.
Somehow, the environmentalist love of windmills is seemingly without limit. If you bother an eagle — even pluck a feather from a dead eagle — you are looking at hard time in the federal pen. But if you operate wind turbines that kill eagles on an industrial scale, you don’t have to worry. Eagle-killing windmills are specifically exempted from liability. Windmills trump our national symbol. Just don’t pick up the eagle feathers under the windmills.

“Eagle killing wind mills are specifically exempted from liability.” The greens’ contortion of logic is breath taking.

This is a very good article. It does a great job showing what a grace wind power is.
I grew up in East Tennessee to a family who had roots in the Great Depression. My grandparents were lifelong democrats who paid the bills because of TVA projects.
As much as FDR fouled things up at least we didn’t have environmental groups screwing things up back when TVA built dams and used hydroelectric power.
I also recall in my lifetime the Tellico dam being held up because of a stupid critter called the “Snail Darter”. The environmental wackos held up production to save this thing that we wouldn’t even use as bait.
Hydroelectric power plants (ie dams) aren’t built anymore because of the effect on fish (etc).
Nuclear isnt built anymore because of fear of nuclear waste even though we have thousand of square miles where no one lives or hardly ever even goes.
Instead we focus on wind power which is horribly expensive and unpredictable because we should suffer more than any animal…
Except for birds of course.

I erased my long winded diatribe because I know y’all are probably hung over and cranky anyway.
1] Windmills require some sort of energy storage technology.
2] We cannot build an efficient laptop or car battery without danger of fire.
3] Compressed air energy storage cuts into efficiency and drives up costs.
4] The administration and greentards have frequently stated they’re relying on ‘new and unforeseen technologies’ that will be available when they’re needed in a few years. Try getting a mortgage with that gambit.
5] Countries like England and Spain which were early investors in windmill power are removing them because they’re too expensive to maintain and driving up energy costs.

Wind or Solar without good safe storage is almost useless
I would still like to get off the grid. Mostly dur to the costs.
At least we will have those screw light bulbs working for us.

well, i live in a part of Texas where wind farms abound…every time i’m near one, i’ve noticed only a very few of them are actually turning…that’s a lotta $$$ someone has invested, just to be standing around doing nothing…wonder why that is?

They’re a joke, and, sardonically, they’re laughable only in the respect that so many people are dumb enough to have been duped by those scams by unprincipled “greenie” socialists and by street hustlers like Obama.

Wind power is no joke.
The “wind advocates” are stealing millions of dollars from the taxpayers – and it’s perfectly legal!
Think about that: legal theft, legal corruption, legal criminality. It wobbles the mind.
Ask the Carnahans of Missouri.

Nevermind all that is done to curb efficient power sources. Their logic is that as the price of all energy goes up, the difference for wind and solar is diminished and is less impactful. The overall increase in costs to the consumer is even more evidence as to why we need more alternatives.
And the sleepers nod in agreement.

A related issue:
FYI, although it is not being reported extensively by the MSM, presumably to protect Obama and other prominent Democrats, who were involved in those shenanigans, also, you realize, don’t you, that, with respect to Solyndra, there is already evidence that the smarmy and deceitful ulterior motives for that “stimulus” and bailout was to reimburse investors like Pelosi and Obama’s other “greenie” buddies, so that they would realize a profit and not take a loss when Solyndra went belly-up?
In other words, Solyndra was a scam from the very outset, and that bailout was strictly self-serving without any regard for how much further it put this country into debt.
Slimy and slippery street hustlers like Obama and Pelosi and their ilk are in it strictly for their own self-aggrandisement, regardless of who gets hurt by it.
They don’t do anything for anybody out of the goodness of their hearts, although it might appear that way to the dumb and to the gullible. They don’t do anything for anybody, unless they have something to gain from it for themselves.
Con artist, Barack Obama, is just a skinnier Al Sharpton with a better haircut.
Democrats are so immoral; e.g., they love and admire and respect their con artists and slick extortionists. They have always had an affinity for criminal elements, protecting them from the law.

If you wish to feel the full assault of wind turbines, go the top of Mt. Diablo, Contra Costa County, California. From this mountain top, you can see more square miles of land than anywhere else in the world, save Mt. Kilamanjaro in Africa. Looking North by Northeast, toward Sacramento, the landscape has been converted into a sea of turbines, tens of thousands or turbines, irrevocably destroying a once majestic view. You will also notice that 90% of the turbines aren’t turning. What a waste.

Union windmills, they believe they should still get revenue for producing nothing.
