A Discussion With Ann Barnhardt About Her Tax Strike
I called Ann to discuss her tax strike, its reason, its ramifications and what the end game is.
Try and look past the audio quality. This was truly a spontaneous moment, and I never told Ann that I was in the Jacuzzi. (Talk about emasculation.)
I told Ann we would post this and we would read your comments and Ann would give her reaction to your thoughts during a follow-up interview sometime this evening.

Ann, if you weren’t so damn kickass, I would find you absolutely drop dead attractive. As it is, I think we should go kick some arse some time. As to the income tax and the whole fight the feds thing.
Welcome to the war. I have outstanding federal liens on me for past tax disputes. I refuse to pay and they keep sending me bills that I refuse to pay. Been working now for about 4 years under the table. I work as an independent contractor as a superintendent building projects and doing things like commercial tenant improvements.
Anywho, the way I look at it, the federal government allows the illegal aliens, the undocumented useful idiot Democrats, to get away with not funding the federal government, so I am just following their lead. I of course cannot become an employee, otherwise the feds just seize parts of my pay because when you fill out all the crud as an employee, they get you roped into their bureaucracy.
The only way forward, IMO, is to make them irrelevant. We have to as a large and unified group tell them to piss off. About 1 million people actually signed the secession petitions. Just imagine how many people have not even heard about that? I would say at least 1 in 20 to 30 would sign such a petition if presented with it. Remember, in our founding only a very small percentage had the balls to stand up and be counted. I will stand shoulder to shoulder with you in the coming battle.

Until I hear otherwise, I credit Ann Barnhardt with popularizing the notion that it is unmanly to wear a sports shirt with another man’s name on it.
Now if she could just popularize the notion that white kids wearing black socks with sneakers look like little old men.

Ann is going about this the wrong way. While I applaud her ideology and withdrawl from mainstream enterprise to meet her religious objective. I’m a little lost as to why she’s kicking the hornet nest to begin with.
It seems better if she would settle her current issues and move on, I say this because she’s paid into the system thus far, just get out. There’s little point in dragging a stone down the path of salvation. Just settle and move on, teach others how to live similarly, you can still starve the government.

It’s kind of like being the lone gun rights advocate… Everybody (thinking) agrees with you but nobody else has the balls to do anything and the BATF shows up and beats down your door and murders you and/or your children then the complicit news organizations depict you as a nut that needed killing, imprisonment… etc. etc. They are not idiots. They will get us one at a time and everybody else will sit on their sofa HOPING that they aren’t next. God bless you Ann.

I have thought about this for a long time, but I already am an employee (part time), so I’ve already filled out all that crud. I did increase my deductions, but it would have to be 1000 before I didn’t have to send in any money to the Federals. Well, maybe not that many.
The only way I get that money back is to file my taxes since I don’t make enough for them to keep it. Still, I’m funding SS and Medicare.
Oh, and Fur, my roommate wanted me to tell you to suck it. She wants to know why the single people always get the fuzzy end of the lollypop. “Oh, you’re married and have kids so you don’t have to work the holiday – we’ll make the single people do it”, etc. She’s tired of being a non-person.

I have listened and watched Ann ever since the great koran-burning video came out.
I was born ball-less due to the fact that I am female, but I am learning to grow a pair and take a stand on issues that matter.
While I haven’t taken the great steps that Ann has done, I have done small ones which include cancelling mindless cable networks, boycotting liberal business and spreading the word to family and friends about the state of our country and what is at stake.
I was blessed to be born in a large Catholic family and we look after each other. We are all Conservatives to the core.
I can say my weapon of choice is my Rosary and I keep Ann and all those who love this country in prayer and ask God for protection.
God Bless you Ann !

I heard Ms. Barnhardt saying without using the exact words that she feels defeated and is having thoughts of suicide. Giving away all of one’s possessions is a classic example of behavior seen in people having suicidal thoughts. What is crystal clear to me is that all of the people who care about what happens to her really should consider steering her to a very competent psychotherapist and not try to either support her in this or try to talk her out of it. While I think that she is battle-weary and needs rest, away from the stresses that have brought her to a state of being overwhelmed, I don’t think that going to jail is either what she has in mind for her future or is something she will benefit from in any way. Please be supportive of her without supporting a terribly self-destructive plan.

To paraphrase from the movie “Gandhi” “Ann, I know that you are right, but I don’t know if this is right.”
I don’t want you in jail. I don’t think it will accomplish anything. But then again, you seem to be doing this for yourself, and your own sense of salvation. I can’t argue with you and won’t.
I’m not a religious person in any traditional sense, nor am I an atheist. I am an Idon’tknowist. So I can’t relate to your religious convictions guiding your principles on this. But I admire that you have them and are willing to put everything on the line for them.
I don’t know what to say. I just hate the idea of you in jail. And it’s not because you look like my mom and sister. (Barnhard must be from the same family tree as Barnhardt)
I support you. But I’m not really sure what that means right now.

We don’t tolerate that effeminate crap in my family.
Individuals who stand up to the government will be dealt with and taken down by the government. It is going to take thousands or millions of men in a civil war. There doesn’t seem to be enough men who are willing to risk death in order to preserve freedom. But if you get a big enough group of people with the courage to fight, others will join.
Men are wired to be dangerous; it is society that has ruined the last few generations.
People are way too comfortable today to get up off their lazy asses and fight, physically fight for the freedom of their grandchildren. When that comfort has been taken away from them, then they will start thinking about the natural instinct of survival. They had better hang on tight to their guns or there will be no way to fight.
Ann Barnhardt is a hero, a godly woman with the courage of a thousand men.
Ann, I pray that you will win your legal battles, and that men will soon leave their comfort zone and take up the natural masculinity and protectiveness that the Good Lord gave them.
I am not one of the neutered. I would like to be part of the army that it will take to get the government out of our business and back under the control of the People.

I amm proud to say I met Ann several months ago in Knoxville, TN when she made a multi-state tour. What a treat that was! She even had her Pink AR with her.
Ann has stepped up to the rampart and I am ashamed that I’m not there. Since she mentioned the Three Percenters, I would recomend that IOTW readers go online and learn about them. As a Three Percenter, my path will take me in a different direction. My only regret is the sad physical condition my body has fell into. Not good for frontline duty, but stand I must. I leave you all with this quote.

“What is freedom? Freedom is to be alive in Christ Jesus. Freedom isn’t keeping your money or your house or your car or your shit. Freedom isn’t going hither and yon whenever you please. Freedom isn’t earthly liberty. Earthly liberty is a mere derivative of authentic freedom, which is Jesus Christ Himself. Reject Christ, and you’re already a slave, and thus earthly liberty will be impossible. That’s why this is happening. This nation has rejected Christ and thus the earthly liberty that WAS a derivative of a Christian culture is now rapidly evanescing. This nation has embraced evil, and with evil inevitably comes chains. Day by day, link by link, this nation is forging its own chains, and it is so far gone that even the Christians are happily embracing the chains, ridiculing and desperately trying to convince those few who refuse to be chained that the only way to be free is to bow down and put on the chains too. Well, to hell with that shit, I say.”

Here’re some questions for round 2:
1. You used to be all militia, all the time. On the verge of going underground, to kick some ass where the rubber was really hitting the double-track. The moment I first heard you present your tax-strike, one word stood out: “non-violent.” When did this happen, and why? Some people really want to know. All the balls in this fight are not on the non-violent-only options, and you know it, so why the silence? Isn’t this just a little bit presumptuous and insulting to those preparing for more than just going to prison?
2. Your position on the hopelessness of the Republic is well-established, but you refuse to even entertain the question of kicking your tax habit by going elsewhere so you can fight from outside. Other people talk about this as a strategy, and it’s historically strong. Why the silence on that? Too ball-less an option to even address? Really?
3. You admit that there may be no one behind you on the Higgins boat. May or may not be true, but when asked about impact, your response is always “If everybody did this…” Stop. Everybody else is not doing this. You just used the term 3% in the same breath. You know the math and you KNOW everybody is not doing this. Ever. If this is really not self-martyrdom, why not address the other options that you are rejecting?
4. Despite the pointedness of these questions, I support what you’re doing, but only because I acknowledge that everyone is called to their own way of making a stand. You usually appeal to intellectual arguments that are universal and apply to everyone, but is that what this is, really? Or is there a personal revelations aspect to this? An inner calling for you? That would be important to specify, because it would help others who are trying to make sense of their own callings.
In any case, God bless you on your way, Ann.

She is out of the boat. For better or worse she is finding out what it feels like to walk on water with only God to carry you.
My belief is that by abandoning herself to God, God will honor this. Maybe publicly, maybe very privately in a way only Ann will recognize, but when you walk with God you are not alone. It sometimes looks like it to an outsider, but you are not alone. God is with you whatever happens.

One truth I found out on my own:
Your signature at the bottom of your return makes it a contract. That is what gives them legal means to collect (your possessions). That was the only thing they had when they filed against me decades ago on my credit report. “BY CONTRACT” is all they said for the reason. My first response was: ‘What contract?’.
No signature – no contract. Got the balls for that? Cuz that’s where you make your first step.
Found out the hard way. But they don’t have a “not filing” squad. Just enforcers of the contract. Millions of people don’t file as it is and NONE of them are forced to file for the sake of filing. Just the ones they know have money from previous filings are harrassed. But that too will fade with time if you are staunch.
So it really is as easy as just dropping out to start it off. Keeping it like that means subtle changes in how you operate “under the tax table”.
If you do, you must stick to: “I am not giving you my SS for this form… It is only for use between me and the Gov.”
At least the firearms form 4473 does not force you to put your SS on it – yet.
Of course, being self-employed after you drop out makes it easier. If you keep your customers to less than $600 each per year then they don’t have to have your tax info for filing that they have you as an expense. Which is a report of income on you to the feds.
My state gets all taxes I owe from collecting them on sales. That’s enough. With no state income tax here it makes things possible.
Bonus I found is my doctor has lower prices for cash customers that skip the insurance monster. He says they make more from my cash payment than the higher prices insurances require for all the middlemen/ paperpushers to be paid.
All my income is spread around my state and community through my purchases. I am not selfish trying not to be a slave to the foolish feds.
