Elk are such magnificent creatures. I had one cross Hwy. 2 along the Kootenai River just outside Troy, Mt. in front of me last Sunday. It was a good thing the elk was at at least 30-50 yds. in front of me and didn’t just dart out of nowhere with no time to avoid it. Hitting a deer is one thing but hitting an elk or a moose at 60-70 MPH will ruin your day.

Hanover, I agree with you. My boss finally put reinforced deer grilles on all of our trucks last wk. after one of our guys clobbered a 3 pt. buck outside of Kalispell, Mt. a couple of wks. ago. He wasn’t hurt but the truck may or may not be a total loss depending upon what the insurance co. says. We’ll see and hopefully the deer guards will work. I did play tag with a moose last Jan. just N. of Sandpoint, Id. who came out of nowhere when it was pitch black at 6:30 PM. Fortunately, the moose only clobbered the rt. side of the truck. He did leave quite a bit of hair and fur stuck in the door but no damage other than a big dent in the door and rt. front fender. Boy, was I lucky I hadn’t been there a second or so later. I was just behind a guy in a Dodge Durango who hit a moose in broad daylight in the same general area a few yrs. ago. Fortuanately he wasn’t hurt but the Durango was total loss as well as the moose. I have a very healthy respect for any animal which may be crossing the rd. including cows because there is a lot of open range in this part of the country.

Autumn, my favorite time of the year, simply beautiful.
People harp on great artist, but who has the most vibrant painting pallette ever?

The same great artists that designed the critters in the photo.

    Thanks Claudia

    Beautiful photos, Claudia.
I have to admit I don’t like the tree-rats, aka squirrels.

That malamute is spectacular. Look at the intelligence in his eyes.
    Beats most humans hands down!
