    How can the stock market go up on a day when they announce 410K job loss? Imagine how bad it would be with out the seasonal holiday hiring going on right now. And Sandy should eventually be helping with job creation. We are screwed.

    @msq — Socialists just see “econmic activity” and not what led up to the spending. In other words, spending in and of itself (regardless of who is spending and why) is good for the economy.

    John Kenneth Galbraith used to talk about spending in “good times” that would get a country out of a depression. Guess what JKG considered “good times?” War! I kid you not. So death, destruction, and creation of goods not usable by the general economy is “good times.”

    This is why intelligent people know that marxism, socialism, liberalism are mental disorders.
