I’ve Been Trying To Tell You Guys This For 4 Years
Ask any reader of iOTW what my biggest pet peeve is and they could probably tell you that it is this comment -
“Who cares what they think?”
Here’s Zo addressing that very same sentiment.

Yes, culture is a huge part of this, because if you have not impacted or penetrated popular culture you will always be at the mercy of how your enemy wishes to define you.
KNOW THIS, please!
Why do you think that the “default cool” position is always one that promoted leftist values and beliefs?
Because that has been grafted onto out collective popular consciousness.
It is not natural, it has not always been there, that is not the normal moral state of the universe.
Support conservatives, but more importantly deny the ‘right to exist’ as a valid point of view to the left in all areas.
Give them no money, refuse to support their causes, reject commonality of message, but most importantly make them FIGHT for anything they wish to accomplish.
Deny them their presumed right to exist!
Treat all leftists with the same abhorrence as you would an actual Nazi; just remember that the Nazis are just another tentacle of cultural Marxism.
It is that simple.

You’re right, pal! Like Rush said in 2006, when Bush won in 2000, and then again in 2004, we QUIT TEACHING, figuring it was all over for lib-dorks. HA! When you aren’t constantly reinforcing what you believe in, people forget, or lose interest.
What do you think the dhimmicrats did after getting their asses handed to them in 2010? They swore that would never happen again and embarked on a strategy to keep their base wound up and involved. That, and build bullet proof, voter fraud networks in strategic Ohio, PA, and FL precincts.
What did we do? Rest on our laurels, content with the smashing victory the Tea Party gave us, and not preparing for the next battle. This is WAR, gawd dammit!!! We have to wipe the bastids out, once and forever! Take no prisoners!

If you don’t take back the K-12 school system we will never win the culture war . . .
Give us the child for 8 years and it will be a Bolshevik forever. – Vladimir Lenin
And we know Lenin was right because the Holy Bible addresses this same idea
Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
The Liberals are turning your children into life long Bolsheviks while you stand idly by and complain about it to the same people who tell you it’s child abuse for you to teach your children biblical values.

Zo raises a great point – conservatives complain about the increasingly overbearing government, but too many pin all of of their hopes on “their guy” – who is usually just another cog in an increasingly overbearing government. Supposedly, that’s not what conservatives are supposed to be all about. It should be the philosophy that is important, primarily to counter the leftward lurch of the Democrats and the RINOs, and the philosophy can only be made through popular culture.
Zo said he only had a GED, but you really can’t teach common sense like that.

Being a Conservative is now counter to the culture-so shouldn’t we gain some instant coolness and hipness and all around general awesomeness for fighting the Establishment?

Ya got me. So does Zo.
I suppose it’s because I deal with children for a living: ignoring bad behavior that’s not too out-of-line instead of rewarding it with attention, reinforcing and attending normal/good behavior is a pretty effective tactic.
Because there’s so much of the left that is repellent, I do ignore it. It’s “The Drumbeat of the Left” http://www.americanthinker.com/2008/09/the_drumbeat.html which leaves me with changing my small sphere of influence when opportunities arise.
I think I need to go out to meet them instead. And stop leaving comments that reflect a ‘who cares’ tenor.

@BFH and I thought bike riders on public roads was your biggest beef. The War on Culture is a better fight to engage in.

illust8r — I agree. Being a libtard should be old school eventually because conservatism is technically counter-culture. The biggest problem we face, however, is that libtards have the lock on appealing to people’s natural tendency toward all the vices like laziness and selfishness, whereas conservatism preaches hard work and responsibility. Living as we do now in the post-modern, relativistic culture of “it’s all good” and where all opinions — based on facts or not — are viewed as worthy of our equal consideration and where Boy Scouts are vilified for standing for something, for example, it’s hard to see how conservatism can gain a toehold with our kids. Now when a kid says “But that’s not fair!”, instead of the usual response, “Life’s not fair,” parents and society are as likely to do something to make it so.
The culture war is as old as cultural warriors like AlfonZO Rachel. I think it’s a religious/spiritual problem and that when Americans return to God and Jesus (not mohammed), we will see the virtues of conservatism increase because they align with God in a way that communism cannot.

I know many of you are familiar with Antonio Gramsci. Here’s a smidgeon of what cultural Marxism is and its roots. This war is now a fight for the minds of our children and reclamation of the media:

This culture war is gigantic — the Left has dominated the culture in Politics, Academia, the Media, the Judiciary (tort lawyers, criminal lawyers), Hollywood, the Unions, and even the Clergy. It will take generations to turn this around, but we cannot give up the fight.
Just like the war on Terrorism, we have to be in it for the long haul and look at the big picture. Keep your eyes on the prize of keeping Conservatism alive and well.
