We Don’t Need No Stinkin’ Compromises
I don’t know if anyone really believed President Obama would compromise with Republicans after the election. If so, I’ve got a bridge to sell them, or something. Not only is he not compromising, he wants even larger tax hikes than he proposed before, double to be exact.
President Barack Obama will begin budget negotiations with congressional leaders Friday by calling for $1.6 trillion in additional tax revenue over the next decade, far more than Republicans are likely to accept and double the $800 billion discussed in talks with GOP leaders during the summer of 2011.
Mr. Obama, in a meeting Tuesday with union leaders and other liberal activists, also pledged to hang tough in seeking tax increases on wealthy Americans. In one sign of conciliation, he made no specific commitment to leave unscathed domestic programs such as Medicare, leaving the door open to spending cuts many fellow Democrats oppose.
Kevin Smith, a spokesman for House Speaker John Boehner (R., Ohio), dismissed the president’s opening position for the negotiations. He said Mr. Boehner’s proposal to revamp the tax code and entitlement programs is “consistent with the president’s call for a ‘balanced’ approach.”

Don’t waste time talking about taxes with unions; all they want is Card-Check.

Looks like we’re going over that cliff. Elections have consequences.

So how does he plan to pull this magic number out of the people? I would be shocked to see the numbers they are spinning.
Obviously he is throwing an even more ridiculous number into the air to make sure the Republicans will not strike a deal with him. Of course the Obots will never read that the goalposts move and we will be even more vilified.

And if the republicans were to agree on that he would then turn around and up it some more.
Obama’s bad faith is evil. The man is evil.

He’s such a bad actor. I pity the poor morons who believed anything he ever said during his campaigning. It must be physically painful to be that stupid. Or not. They probably feel pain the way worms do.

That’s what you call staking out a maximalist position prior to beginning negotiations. Meanwhile John Limp Dick’s opening maximalist position is to bend over and spread his cheeks

Callmelennie, I think what Obama’s doing is to make it impossible for any agreement. The reason I think that is because raising taxes isn’t going to help the economy. If there is an agreement then when the inevitable happens, a worsening of the economy – Obama will be saddled with the blame. If republicans don’t agree to Obama’s demands and nothing happens they will be saddled with blame.
The economy’s going to go to pot no matter if there are tax hikes or not. The democrats want to make sure they can put all blame on republicans. They’ll say that republicans own the depression/recession because they refused to compromise.

The president’s so called “press conference” today was a joke, a very sick joke.
Those lazy and moronic assholes don’t even try to ask sensible questions, or to get sensible answers to their vacuous questions.
I’m so exasperated, frustrated and disgusted with those incompetent assholes in the MSM, all of whom, including Fox, are in the tank for that slimy and slippery con artist in the White House.
Fox’s Ed Henry is charming, but retarded.

You are right lennie. Ask for $1.6T, get 1.0T. He gets what he wants and the R’s can say they saved us $600B.
Time for some forced retirements!!! THey all suck!

Never believed in compromise. If one person wants to drive off a cliff at 100 MPH, why would driving off that same cliff at 50 MPH be any better?

I’m willing to let him double the tax rate I’m supposed to pay.
Because everyone that supports him is entitled to an exception, correct?
