Former Dem. Mayor Violates Probation
Former Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon is more than $13,000 behind on her court-ordered charitable contributions according to the Associated Press.
Dixon is serving a term of probation for theft and perjury charges. She was charged on Monday with violating her probation.

Criminal convictions on ones resume are a career enhancement for democrats (see Marion Barry, his latest motto was “always fighting for the people).
We need to stop letting criminals and Shitheads have positions of power just to show how “tolerant and diverse” we are.

Sorry for the scatter-gun comment but y’all do realize this is Thomas D’Alesandro, Jr’s territory, yes? He was rolling along pretty well, in the running for Governor of Maryland in 1954, “but was forced to drop out due to being implicated in receiving undeclared money from Dominic Piracci, a parking garage owner convicted of fraud, conspiracy, and conspiracy to obstruct justice.”

That’s not really it. Anymore, it’s get a scholarship ride in college due to affirmative action, because college, excepting few fields (like engineering, nursing – add your own at will) is no longer a cake with the icing of polishing good civic principles, learning about art or any classically liberal ideals.
It’s about making connections to start the tribal ladder climb and getting your cred. Ward heeler to precinct captain to city council to assistant to this or that NGO. Screw-ups or fiscal indiscretions can be disappeared or delayed by a compliant media and you can find yourself as a district rep or state congressman. Or even the first nursing native American bar examinee. Or POTUS. The sky is the limit.
Once you’re in a position of authority – school board, housing, city street cleaning, you can easily run and win based on the voting largesse of the people’s appreciation of getting their name bumped to the top a list for whatever, getting your area cleaned first of snow (Marion Barry was fine with leaving areas that didn’t vote for him virtually snowbound as long as he could). Throw on the union reps happily laundering dues, and it’s a walk in the park. People who get with the program get the benefits.
People in Lynn MA were told that if they liked their welfare checks, they’d better vote the straight Dem ticket. Street people in Harvard Square were seen being put on buses and sent to Lynn to vote.
Easy peasy.
These days there isn’t any ‘allowing’. It’s a feature implemented in the 60s, not a bug.

Moe tom, I don’t get HBO, don’t use netflix.. I still love watching reruns of Homicide, Life on the Street. Filmed a couple of blocks from where I tended bar in Fells Point. From what I’ve seen of ads for The Wire, it seems a lot grittier, yes? Are the two series comprable?
