FOX NEWS ANALYST ON PETRAEUS RESIGNATION: ‘THESE TOUGH CHICAGO GUYS KNEW…HELD IT IN THEIR BACK POCKET UNTIL THEY NEEDED TO PLAY THE CARD’

The Blaze

Fox News analyst Ralph Peters on Friday called the timing of Gen. David Petraeus’ sudden resignation as CIA director “just too perfect for the Obama administration” and speculated that “tough Chicago guys” held onto knowledge of the affair until they needed to push the spy chief out.

Peters, a retired Army lieutenant colonel, said on Fox News that just as the administration initially called the assault on the Benghazi consulate on the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks “purely coincidence,” it’s again “purely coincidence” for the affair to surface after the election but before Petraeus went to Capitol Hill for questioning about Benghazi. CIA Acting Director Michael Morell will now testify instead of Petraeus.

“As an old intelligence analyst, the way I read this — and I could be totally wrong, this is my interpretation — is that the administration was unhappy with Petraeus not playing ball 100 percent on their party line story,” Peters said. “I think he was getting cold feet about testifying under oath about their party line story, and I suspect that these tough Chicago guys knew of this affair for a while, held it in their back pocket until they needed to play the card.”

He added, “Right after the election and right before Petraeus is supposed to get grilled on Capitol Hill, it just really smells.”

This may be true, but whose fault is it for leaving Petraeus open to this kind of blackmail, if it in fact occurred?… No one but Patraeus himself. He didn’t have his career dumped in his lap. He pursued every post he ever got. He knows damn well that a CIA director can not have any skeletons in his closet. Make a choice general, chocolate or vanilla, because you can’t have both.

AvgDude–you are100% correct. Petraeus can still testify. I think he was thinking do I want to go to prison for lying under oath or fall on my sword. Either way he is slime.

The Obama Administration was laughing behind his back the whole time I bet. He can regain some semblence a honor by going to Congress and testifying truthfully about what happened with Benghazi. Anything less, and yes, then he is total slime.

I wonder if the affair goes back to when Petraeus was removed from command in Shitghanistan. Unless I am mistaken he worked with that gal, and maybe they used that affair to remove him because he was doing too good of a job killing the enemy. The troops all loved him.

There will be guards at the Senate doors barring his entrance. Maybe the House will listen, but not Dingy Harry’s Senate. He’s already been ‘excused’ from testifying there. The MSM won’t touch the story if it casts Chicago Jesus in a bad light so it’s just an extension of the ongoing Benghazi coverup.

    @AvgDude

Petraeus fucked up, bigtime. He deserves to be ousted, in my book. But that’s a separate issue to the political maneuverings and coverups that are unconstitutional and ongoing.

No doubt Patraeus was a laughing stock to the Obysmal camp before his public revelation. But now, no matter how brutally forthright and damaging any testimony he might give regarding Benghazi is going to be laughed off by half the nation, the mainstream news media, all the democratic House members, and Senators as a load of BS.

Credibility has just been completely taken out of the equation. Dress all these players in clown suits and let the circus begin. Ughhh. I hate clowns and I hate the circus.

If this affair was enough of a National Security breach to force Petreaus to resign late in the afternoon on the Friday after the election, then it was enough of a security breach for Petraeus to resign as soon as the FBI found out about it.

If the truth be known, Petraeus should have never passed the background investigation when he was named DCIA. At his level, one really is held to a higher standard of conduct, or at least they used to be.

This whole thing stinks to high heaven and just gets worse by the day.

The truth shall set you free. Petraeus – by going public on the affair, has pulled back the power the Obama admin. had on him as far as blackmail. Let’s not forget, the CIA was the outfit that declared publicly that NO ONE from their group had ordered any stand down orders regarding Benghazi.

I’m hoping (though I may be naive) he steps up and does the right thing and testifies. That would go far towards redemption.

@bfh or iotw – I just read that General Carter Ham and Rear Admiral Gaouette were “relieved” of duty after the Benghazzi killings. Did you guys do a story of this? Might have missed it. Why isn’t the military standing up or why isn’t the news covering this? Fox?? Again I might have missed it, let me know please.
