Obama Shuts Down 1.6M Acres to Oil Shale Development

Just two days after President Obama’s re-election, the Obama Interior Department announced a plan to shut down 1.6 million acres of federal land to oil shale development. The land had originally been slated for drilling under President George W. Bush.
“By significantly reducing the acreage of wilderness potentially available for leasing, Secretary Salazar is laying out a creative, thoughtful and more responsible approach in managing some of our most precious resources,” said Bobby McEnaney, senior lands analyst with the Natural Resources Defense Council.

I’ve been a survival enthusiast since I was a little kid. My dad taught Air Force survival school back before it was called the Air Force. He taught me how to go out into the wilderness with just a pocket knife and survive for a week or two, longer if necessary. I’ve been waiting for years for the shit to hit the fan and now it looks like it may be here.
All that Greek philosophy shit is going to be pretty useless to the fresh generation of liberally educated victims.
Survival skills will have a high barter value.

I’ve been sitting here for an hour or two looking at a brand new Ghost Recon game still unopened and just waiting for me to play it and have loads of great fun blowing shit up. But I find it much more enjoyable to read and comment on this great American survivalist website.
Still the temptation is growing to load up the game and explore.

I think anybody who has or had parents or grandparents who lived through the great depression will have a pretty good chance if they listened. It’s all about canning, planting & tending, hunting & preserving, and protecting what is yours. Purifying water is important too.
A good survival kit is a must. Every kit should include a couple hundred feet of 550 cord.
