Academia: Lockstep & Groupthink

You’ll love this. The Daily Princetonian reports that 157 members of Princeton University’s faculty or staff have donated to the two presidential candidates. One hundred fifty-five donated to Obama; two donated to Romney.

The two who donated to Romney were a visiting lecturer in engineering and a janitor.
Let’s see . . . the two individuals who reject Obama’s collectivism are:

A person who works for a living.
A person who knows how things work.

Makes perfect sense, doesn’t it? Meanwhile, the theorists live on in their fantasy utopia. Amazing.

Romney’s two biggest mistakes were that that bumbling, incompetent wussy allowed Democrats to define him, and, very importantly, that narcissist didn’t defend G.W.Bush like anyone with any balls and character would have done.

The fact of the matter was that the economy tanked in 2008, a year and a half after extremely irresponsible, big-spending Democrats took control of both houses of Congress, and after those same Democrats rammed through their insane Sarbanes-Oxley and Dodd-Frank legislation, both of which largely contributed to the collapse of the economy.

Never mind that he didn’t pursue the issue of Benghazi, showing weakness, a complete lack of chaacter and terrible judgement there, also. And never mind that the Bush Administration successsfully prosecuted three wars, winning all three of them, and the Obama Administratio is spitefully undoing everything that the Bush Administration accomplished, none of which Romney mentioned, presumably because he doesn’t know squat about military issues. The guy is a putz.

He pandered to women, only to have them laugh at him, because they knew an unprincipled phony and a weakling when they saw one.

    @Anne

Another major factor that’s coming to light is the progressives use of new media. I may hate Facebook and Twitter, but everyone under 30 lives on it. The lies and misrepresentations spread there, and then spread within trusted peer groups, probably did as much damage to Romney as the GOP’s ignorance of radically changed demographics in America. We need to embrace new forms of communication and stop being the party of boring old white men who don’t understand technology. We also need to court the Latino community – and social media would be a good place to start.

You and I may understand the economy, wars, foreign policy, whatever. But when Barry’s Twitter and Facebook campaign has convinced young voters that Romney’s going to put Grandma in the street and take away their birth control, that’s all that matters. These aren’t high information voters – they’re just getting started in life and have a lot of distractions to occupy their minds. We’ve got to reach them on a level they care about – and we didn’t do it this time.

Hmmm, Xavier advises me that the MSM influenced the outcome of the election. Well, duh, Xavier.

Most people here aren’t any better informed on the issues than those people on Twitter and Facebook are, and yet they’re just as opinionated, and they’re just as inclined to attack anyone who disagrees with their screwy rationales. Both sides need to stop talking and to listen for a change.

@Gina, right on! And the horse they rode in on!

Wait until January when massive new taxes and sequestration kick in. The latter calls for $1.2 TRILLION in mandatory cuts – half from the military, half from domestic programs.
The mouth-breathing obots couldn’t care less about the military, but they will sure notice the other ones.

I’m glad that many of us could see the ‘writing on the wall’ years ago and prepared accordingly.
These dumb bastards don’t realize that there’s an end to the gravy train. Maybe they can eat their obamaphones.

Honor and integrity mean nothing in this country, and I was a sucker all these years for thinking they did. I don’t give a shit about the nation’s youth. They’re brain washed, hateful little socialist creeps. I’ll use up or destroy anything I can, just so they don’t have it.

Academics have always held the societies which support them in contempt.

A lot of people think having a PhD makes em smart.

    Well, it don’t.

When Barry’s shit hits the fan, I’m sticking with the farmers.

Oh, yeah, the post-election analysis don’t mean shit – if you want peace, prepare for war.

“The mouth-breathing obots couldn’t care less about the military”

it’s real a good thing that a whole generation of kids have been made to play soccer, “because we don’t need to have wars anymore, we can just settle ALL our differences by playing soccer, ‘cuz it’s an international sport.”

actually heard those words spoken and defended more than a few times.

I think this a telling article. You can tell alot about the candidates by the quality of the people who support them. Go and read the story of David and Absalom from the OT. Absalom duped the general population into following him through his charm. David had the priests, officials, and military personnel following him. Those people knew who David really was, the general population had little idea who Absalom was.
