(CNSNews.com) – A federal grand jury in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday added terrorism to the list of charges that Floyd Lee Corkins II faces in connection with the Aug. 15 shooting of a security guard at the offices of the Family Research Council.

Corkins, of  Herndon, Va., has been in custody since his arrest soon after the shooting, which allegedly occurred when Corkins attempted to enter the FRC’s Washington headquarters with a weapon.

One week after his arrest, Corkins was formally charged in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia with the federal offense of interstate transportation of a firearm and ammunition, as well as DC charges of possession of a firearm during a crime of violence and committing assault with intent to kill while armed.

If he gets a lawyer who’s competent at all,
he’ll get charges dropped by claiming to be a follower of the Religion of Pieces™

@Mountain Dog — I always wondered about those sandwiches! Corkins worked at the LGBT offices in DC and the last place I would have bet he’d patronize would have been Chick-fil-A. He may have been targeting one of their restaurants but got deterred; maybe a police officer was eating there when he entered. That doesn’t explain 15 sandwiches but 15 sandwiches would explain trips to multiple restaurants especially if he was looking for easy targets. He might have gotten cold feet and decided the FRC was a “safe” fallback target.

Since Corkins didn’t kill anyone (thankfully), he won’t be able to give a lapdance to Old Sparky.

@ Stranded in Sonoma, ” lapdance to Old Sparky.” LOL!! That is a great one!

I was thinking maybe he planned on leaving a sandwich like a calling card on each of his victims. But your “multiple restaurants” theory sounds logical too. The investigators probably have it figured out by now.
