UN WARNS AMERICANS: DO NOT ELECT MITT ROMNEY
The United Nations Special Rapporteur on Counter-Terrorism and Human Rights has warned Americans not to elect Republican Mitt Romney in next month’s presidential election, saying that doing so would be “a democratic mandate for torture.”
The UN’s Ben Emmerson was referring to Romney’s refusal to rule out the use of waterboarding in interrogating terror detainees, a practice that President Barack Obama has ended.
Colin Perkel of The Canadian Press reported Emmerson’s remarks from a symposium in Toronto on the impact of 9/11 on human rights:
“The re-introduction of torture under a Romney administration would significantly increase the threat levels to (Americans) at home and abroad,” Emmerson said.
“Such a policy, if adopted, would expose the American people to risks the Obama administration is not currently exposing them to.”
U.S. intelligence services were able to pinpoint Osama bin Laden’s location and carry out the successful mission to kill him in May 2011 based on information yielded during waterboarding of 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, and information from Al Qaeda operative Hassan Ghul, who was captured in Iraq in 2004.
Obama opposed both waterboarding and the Iraq War, without which bin Laden would not have been found.

Remember that graphic BFH did with the Ambassador being dragged through the streets of Benghazi, with the caption, “According to Obama this is a Bump in the Road” ? A blow-up of that has been taped up in my car window for a while now. Besides being stared and gestured at by a couple of local imams, other people have been paying attention.
A day or two ago I stopped to get gas. There was a truck at the next pump over, with two young guys in it (maybe early 20′s?) One at a time, they got out of their truck and come over to look at the picture closely. The first one surprised me, but when the second came up, and said something like “wow, that looks rough” I asked him if he knew who it was. He said no. I said “That’s our Ambassador Christopher Stevens, who was murdered in Libya.”
He was silent for a moment, looking at the picture and reading the caption, and then said, “That’s not good.” I said, “No, not good at all.” He walked away silently.

I appreciate your concern. I do take it down sometimes, when I think I’m not in a “safe” area. All my bumper stickers are on magnets, and they come down in questionable surroundings, too. I learned that from hearing about friends’ cars being keyed during the 2008 election.
But I’ll keep it up as long as I think it might give people pause for thought. (Will keep your advice in mind, though.)
