It was America who lost when we were saddled with Nixon who didn’t play fair.

    Ya, sure, moron.
    Obama playing fair -
Accepting foreign money for his campaign. Boom. Right there that is more egregious than ANYTHING Nixon did.
    Shall I go on?
Executive privilege to cover-up Fast and Furious.
    Cover up of Libyan Massacre.
Sibelius breaks federal law and they insulate her and she still has her cabinet position
Obama leaks political advantageous National Security Secrets to the press while using the espionage act against reporters who dig a bit too deep into Obama failings.
Obama decrees that defense contractors not lay off workers prior to the election, in defiance of federal law, and then says he will cover the fines with tax payer money.
I’ll end there while you tell me what Nixon did that even comes close to any of this.
THE WORLD CANNOT WAIT for your answer, dickweed.

Stephen Ambrose had a great biography on the life of George McGovern as WWII war hero it’s a good read and will give you a new perspective on this liberal lion. As a conservative I must say I did enjoy reading that book. So long to another member of the greatest generation.

No. I can give a shit what he did as a young man. He was a big government socialist. They should be voted out or dead. We got both now with McGovern.

I don’t play that weepy eulogy game.

The guy flying in the plane is not a different guy than the “liberal standard bearer” McGovern. It’s the same guy.

It’s impossible to salute half a guy. It’s all or nothing, and I wouldn’t salute McGovern if he shot Hitler.
If one of the Seal Team 6 goes on to be an anti-American, socialist, commie sympathizing, wealth redistributing, big government politician one day – I’m not gonna salute him for killing bin-Laden.

McGovern has always been a strange hard to understand character to me. Like my uncle Joe, McGovern was an undisputed war hero. He made huge personal sacrifices in order to defend his country. How men with such experience can be so wrong politically is just impossible for me to understand. But it can’t be disputed that both, my uncle a p.o.w. and McGovern a 25+ mission bomber pilot are heros. What happened to them after, I can’t explain.

This is a tough one. On one hand he never represented himself as something he was not (for contrast see Obama) but on the other hand he was in the vanguard of a hard left movement within the Democrat party that eventually took over and bought America successively socialist lefty’s as president (Carter, Clinton and Obama, the former being incompetent and the latter two liars and con artists) who have managed to cripple the country finacially as well as morally and extended the legacy of citizen dependency on government started by the great liar LBJ with his War on Poverty assault on American values.

Considering the rogues gallery today (including Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, the late unlamented Ted Kennedy, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid) McGovern was positively honest but still bears responsibility for helping start off this mess. Wherever you may be, RIP.

No, this isn’t a tough one. It’s not a tough call at all to make. It’s one of two distinct possibilities:

    A) Either McGovern completely misunderstood what it was that he fought and died for,

    or,

    B) He knew at one time and forgot.

It ain’t rocket science, boys and girls. And as a born-and-bred South Dakotan, I knew McGovern in life better than most. I am under no obligation to mourn his passing, and so I won’t.

Do NOT compare what my father did to what McGovern did. My father was honorable. McGovern actually thought that National Socialism and Soviet Socialism were fundamentally different and that somehow fighting Nazis gave him patriotic cache’ when he accepted Soviet Socialism as his preferred form of gov’t.
