CA OFFICIAL UNDER FIRE FOR DROPPING $4,500 IN PUBLIC FUNDS AT A STRIP CLUB

In the latest example of egregious misuse of taxpayer funds, a high-ranking Port of Oakland official is under investigation for spending more than $4,500 at a strip club in Houston, Texas.
First reported by the San Francisco Chronicle on Monday, the paper relates that California Maritime Director James Kwon entertained roughly a dozen members of the shipping industry at the Texas strip club during a 2008 conference, in what was billed as a “dinner and drink reception.”
His choice of location, however, was less than discreet. The Huffington Post notes that the “Treasures” was nearly shut down earlier this year for being a “haven for drugs, prostitution and human trafficking,” and that there were 48 arrests between 2008 and last May for prostitution and delivery of a controlled substance. The San Francisco Chronicle says the offenses were similar four years ago, when the violation was reportedly committed.

A “haven for drugs, prostitution and human trafficking”?
Really now…
Why did NONE of my “business” get-togethers ever approach that level of depravity?
I had a hard enough time getting “corporate” to spring for pre-made grocery store sandwiches and cheap store brand bottled water.
Obviously I was doing it wrong.

You people are all wrong. This is The People’s Socialist Quagmire of California. Mr. Kwon was merely looking for employment violations and seeing if the…ahem!…entertainers were protected by a union from the evil capitalists running the establishment.

$4500 on booze and strippers… or as Ted Kennedy would have called it… a night out.

Did he make the sale? Did he get the contract? Was the money well-spent?

You folks are missing the point – California is finally spending money on something useful for a change.
Now if there was only a very expensive, yet thinly used high speed rail system to get our public officials to strip clubs faster. Hmmmmm…..

How is this just coming to light 4+ years after the fact?
Did they have to give him time to find a new employer or did he need this extra time in service, to get full benefits on his retirement or severance package?
