Romney campaign files federal suit to ensure all military ballots count in Wisconsin

Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney’s campaign has filed a federal lawsuit in Wisconsin to extend the amount of time military and overseas absentee ballots can be returned.

The federal suit came on the heels a campaign request to the state’s Government Accountability Board to extend the deadline after at least 30 Wisconsin municipalities failed to send overseas ballots 45 days before the election, which is required under the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voter Act (UOCAVA). The campaign proceeded with the suit against GAB after their initial request was denied.

“Because members of the military are often stationed in remote, dangerous, frontline locations, there is a substantial likelihood that the defendants’ violations of law will prevent military voters from receiving, completing, and returning their ballots in time to have them counted,” the lawsuit filed Friday reads. “The defendants’ unlawful conduct therefore may effectively disenfranchise the very men and women who make daily sacrifices to protect our system of democratic government.”

I just bought a lot of ammo from my local dealer.
He told me his sales have gone through the ceiling in the last three months in anticipation, and we’re out in the rural areas of Indiana.

He said everyone is getting ready for the “civil unrest” after Obama loses…And he wasn’t joking around.

Isn’t it a little f.u. that they even have to file this suit? Also, I’m sure dems read this story and feel the same way I do when the progs try to enfranchise illegal aliens.

It won’t do the demoncraps any good to fight the inevitable. Look who won the Governorship, TWICE. State-wide, I would say Wisconsin is solidly Republican, and that means Electoral votes.

Didn’t this happen in the last election as well? The law should be changed so that one person (the person occupying a particular job title) in each municipality has the responsibility to ensure that ballots are mailed on time. Failure to do so would result in a criminal prosecution. Making sure that overseas service people have the right to vote is the least a democracy can do for those maning the watchtowers.

This could be solved if the military was considered its own voting district. All active duty military personel would be part of the district. The JAG could administer the vote counting.

    How hard is that?
