Sunday Critters
I’ve had a rough last month. Two weeks before my scheduled surgery (hip replacement), Ivan (above) got sick and had to stay two nights in the animal hospital. I have a great vet and placed my beloved bad boy in his hands. He is back to his “Ivan the Terrible” self now, but it was traumatic for him and me.
Then it was my turn. I’m recovering quite nicely now; better than I expected. When I came home last week, I wasn’t entirely free from some of the lovely drugs I got; so I missed last week’s Sunday Critters. I wanted to make this week special, so I’m paying tribute to my sassy Ivan and below is a picture I have wanted to use but never could find the perfect time. I think the time is now.
Rescued.
That’s how I feel. And I have hope for our country, too.

Something I’ve found that works great for pain — I’ve had a few back surgeries — is Noni juice. 100% pure Noni is about 75% as effective as morphine for pain reduction. There are no side effects, only many other great benefits. I give it to my dog also, keeps him from getting worms and it’s good for the health.
Sound too good to be true? Well here’s the bad part: it tastes terrible — my girlfriend thought hers was bad and she threw it out (about $1 an ounce), it smells like moldy old socks too.
But I recommend it to everybody. You get used to the taste after a while and there is no aftertaste if you drink some juice or water after.
Take it on an empty stomach and it is as good as Ultram for pain.
I buy it by the gallon.
Pineapple or mango juice mixed with an ounce or two of Noni is not so bad tasting.
I take NO meds since I’ve been taking noni.
BioInnovations has a good selection. You can get it at a health food store also.
Wish you a speedy recovery.

Claudia, I’m glad to hear you and Ivan are both better. What a great pic.
About 2 weeks ago, my best buddy cat, Bucky, died at such a young age (only about 5). We tried to rush him to the vet but he died in my arms in the car. Captain America decided not to wait and found a 4 month old double-pawed orange male on Petfinder and he’s a joy (most of the time) to have. He’s being trained and for the most part, he’s doing ok but is still gangly, awkward and playful as a kitten.
I have a feeling our kitten is going to be as big as Ivan. Happy healing to you both.

Dear Claudia — Best wishes for a speedy recovery! I hope the hard part of your recovery s behind you. And thank you for sharing your critters with us. Your Ivan looks a lot like my Jax (except Ivan has a white chest). Jax came to us as a 4 mo. old, apparently abandoned kitty. When he finally asked for help he was skin and bones, infested with parasites and terribly scared of people. I don’t know if it’s orange tabbies, but he is one of the sweetest, gentlest kitties I’ve ever known. I’d never seen an expression of immense gratitude and contentment on the face of any animal before him. He is known around here as “personal kitty” because only until recently has he let me move from one room to another without following me.
Ivan is a handsome lad.

Hope you both are well. After losing my dear old Booger the Cat to some evil predator, my wife and I got a rescue kitten. A very ordinary looking gray tabby. But Buddy the Cat is THE personality kid. Loud, talky, and the best little pal I got.
Happy Sunday, and a speedy recovery.

Claudia! I’m so happy to hear that you are on the mend and that Ivan is back to his healthy “terrible” self. Must be something about the ginger kitties. My sister has one that is loaded with personality – comes when you call his name and politely taps you with his paw when he wants petted.
Missed you last week! Glad to have you back!

Claudia, thanks for all your “news”, and the photos!
Ivan is a beauty, and I’m glad to hear he’s back to his rascally self.
And here you’ve had a hip replacement yourself. You’ve been a busy lady!
Best wishes for an uneventful recovery. I know a couple of people who have had hip replacements, and they are doing great. Apparently, the key is to maintain a rigorous physiotherapy regimen. Tedious, but produces good long-term results.
Best of luck!

Thanks to everyone for your wishes for Ivan and me. The difference between now and the last 6 months is like night and day. I’m feeling tremendous emotionally, mentally AND physically.
And I can watch the news without getting depressed – we are going to take our country back!
Thanks to you all – you mean a lot to me!

Claudia – it’s a shame that your thread got tarnished by a troll, but there are too many well wishers and positive comments here to let that one spoil the bunch.
Good luck with your recovery and I’m glad to hear that Ivan is “terrible” once again.

I wish you God’s blessings on your full recovery, Claudia! And Ivan looks healthy and smug (the best way for a cat to look). Thank you for that sweet “critter rescue” photo, too, and all the photos that make Sunday morning a little more special.

Glad to hear your surgery went well and you are feeling better. Give Ivan a scritch from me.
Our last cat was a very personable Japanese Bobtail. When she got out of the house and never came back, we were heartbroken. We do have 3 Poms and a GSD to take up the slack.

I’m late to the party, but I wish you a fast and uneventful recovery. I had the same surgery two years ago and I’m better than ever. I never even have to think about it (except when going through the metal detectors at the airport).
