I did my tour from 1971 to 1975. I learned what “YES” and “NO” meant.Sub duty meant many ports for diesel fuel for the engines. Yes, we got to go ashore and get drunk.Hey, we had an image to keep up. We would ask the girls in a bar”hey, wanna have breakfast on a sub?” Then we would take a few to the boat and we’d fight for the ladder coming down into the sub. Nice view if you get my gist. Nukes don’t have that fun. They stay hiding keeping us safe.

My son was in the Navy.

    Fast Attack sub.

Claimed at the time that he hated it, but he came out with a bank account full of money, self discipline, and job prospects out the ass.

My uncle served in the Pacific through the kamikaze attacks of WW2 and spent the rest of his life in a hospital because of the wounds of war. When he died he left all the life insurance and benefits accumulated over 50 years to all the members of his brother’s families. I bought a new truck with my inheritance from him.

    Navy Rocks!
