California – The Petri Dish of Libtardism

Walter Williams for IBD

California was once the land of opportunity, but it is going down the tubes.

California has one-eighth of the nation’s population but one-third of its welfare recipients.

Several of California’s prominent cities have declared bankruptcy, such as Vallejo, Stockton, Mammoth Lakes and San Bernardino. Others are on the precipice, and that includes Los Angeles, California’s largest city.

California’s 2012 budget deficit is expected to top $28 billion, and its state debt is $618 billion. That’s more than twice the size of New York’s state debt, which itself is the second-highest in the nation.

Democrats control California’s Legislature, and its governor, Jerry Brown, is a Democrat. California is home to some of America’s richest people and companies.

It would then appear that the liberals’ solution to deficit and debt would be easy. They need only to raise taxes on California’s rich to balance the budget and pay down the debt — or, as President Barack Obama would say, make the rich pay their fair share.

The downside to such a tax strategy is the fact that people are already leaving California in great numbers. According to a Manhattan Institute study, “The Great California Exodus: A Closer Look,” by Thomas Gray and Robert Scardamalia (October 2012), roughly 225,000 residents leave California each year — and have done so for the past 10 years.

That’s the problem. California politicians can fleece people in 2012, but there’s no guarantee that they can do the same in 2013 and later years; people can leave. Also, keep in mind that rich people didn’t become rich by being stupid. They have ingenious ways to hide their money.

If you don’t like socialism simply stop paying income tax and tell everyone else to stop. They can’t do a frickin’ thing about it if a mass tax revolution ensues. Until then you have no one to blame but yourselves for enabling liberal assholes.

Come here with your money…but leave your freekin’ progressive ideas there in your destroyed city/state.

Ya’know down here in the South the most said phrase used to be “Y’all come see us again.”

Now it’s “Well Y’know up in ___________ (insert your other than Southern state here)we did it this way.”

    Now let me see….

Suppose I am a business owner who lives and does business in California, and because this Negro bitch, Kamala D. Harris, won her lawsuit in the Supreme Court, I’m forced to stay and continue my thriving, growing concern in California because I don’t have a chance of lower taxes anymore in the neighboring states of Arizona, Texas, etc. My response might go–So you bloodsucking cunt, what I’ll do to avoid higher taxes and not let you get the best of my money is DOWNSIZE. Hello? I’ll lay people off, cut corners here and there, whatever I have to do to pay less taxes. IF I CAN’T HAVE MY FUCKING MONEY, NEITHER CAN YOUUUUUUU!!!!!!!! Have nice day, whore.

I live in CA, I came from NC. When I got here 25 years ago it was a thriving environment. Then some changes in SAC, the feel good bleeding hearts took over. They raised taxes a little at a time, they paid outrageous salaries to their biggest voting bloc. The biggest problem here is simple. We have more takers than makers. And the makers are demonized for making unless its apple and starbucks.

The second biggest issue is also simple, the pandering to illegals over the last 25 years is showing great results.. those “Hardworking farm hands” had kids, those kids go to our schools. The schools make it easier for them to learn and our kids pay the price in time and class sizes. Then the teachers complain about class sizes and demand more money, then the democrats give it to them and teachers union votes for them. This cycle has paid off for the teachers unions but it failed our kids and our economy.

Now we have a really fun problem. How to raise taxes on the rich and then sneak in an additional consumption tax so “Everyone is paying” in an effort to save schools and tuition….Enter Prop 30. Which is exactly what this state does, scare the state that teachers will pay and our kids will suffer.. EVERY YEAR for the last 20 years we’ve had the same ads being played over and over… Luckily the ballots are all in spanish so the giveaway continues.

    @ Jorel Lives!

Using the same law then those states can counter sue California for impacts to their state for the “refugees” from CA..inluding state funded housing,,medical, enviromental, etc. etc.

either way lawyers always keep pulling in the bucks.

Yes, the “liars” always walk away with their cut. Check this guy out though, when it comes to California. He’s bit of a scam (makes his living via YouTube videos among other things). Many times George hits the money on the head (check out some of his older videos) about California turning into a third world environment. He lives there and keeps abreast of things, sometimes with exaggeration. But I like him.

Robert: I’m a biz owner in Cali. A lot smaller then I used to be. Some accountants are already advising on how to get assets out of here. Having said that it’s damn hard to move your commercial building. All Dems seem to really be pushing the redistribution of wealth, or as Clinton was calling it last week during a visit, “Shared Prosperity”. What they don’t get is when we are required to SHARE the fruits of our labor, we will stop laboring. Fuckem.

I sure hope the liberals choose to stay in the utopia they created.

I don’t blame the conservatives for leaving. I would encourage it.

I just took a look at all the props in California for this election and the most current polling on them and the situation in California is just going to get lots worse. I wonder whether the passengers on the Titanic demonstrated this level of self-destructive impulses. It would be like they were voting on measures that set fire to the life boats, drilled holes in the lifeboats, set the life boats adrift empty and voting to open whatever watertight doors had managed to close.
