Big Bird is not in danger of losing his/her job. If funds for PBS are cut or eliminated, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting will continue. Either with more telethons to seduce the weak-minded into forking over more of their dough, or they’ll just ask for and receive the DNC’s donor list and they’ll hit them up for money 5-10 times a year.
The only way the children of the knuckle-draggers will miss Big Bird is if congress and the executive eliminate the CPB. But even then, how many other channels would jump at the chance to air Sesame Street? Exactly! The only way to kill that enormous canary is to stuff him down a mine shaft.
