Girl, 11, Takes Down 335-POUND BEAR On Hunting Trip As She Waits For HEART AND LIVER TRANSPLANT
(iWIDK By Nina Hoffman) - 11-year-old Kaitlynn Bessette, currently waiting for a heart and liver transplant, described hunting and killing a 335-pound bear as “a dream come true.”

Kaitlynn was diagnosed with tricuspid atreisa, a congenital heart disease, when she was born.
Her condition forces the pre-teen to require organ transplants to survive.
The United Sportsman Alliance, which grants make-a-wish style dreams to young children, took Kaitlynn on the hunting trip in Junction City, Wisconsin, although she assumed she’d come back empty handed.
She told WAOW, “I was thinking I was not going to see anything and I’d have to go another day.”
Instead, she spotted the black bear in her scope, took aim, and with one shot to the heart had her prize.
Her mother said the family plans to mount the bear in the family home in order to keep the memory alive.

I don’t think the bear heart and liver will work, but it’s worth a shot.

I’ve eaten bear. It’s pretty good. At 335 pounds, this one may need some tenderizer.

Good for her, good for her parents. She’s a little Sarah. I hope everything works our for her. My daughter was hunting at age 10 in Cali. You can guess how that went over with some people. Even in a extremely conservative county.

The saddest thing about the story is the comments from the pinheads at the site (IWIDK). More sympathy for the 335 pound killer varmint than the young lady. Ya, lets not hunt or control any of “our” planets animals and see how long it takes for a bear, wolf, lion…. to eat your stupid faces off.

There are some amazing young ‘uns coming up in our great land. My hairdresser’s kid (10!) shot the biggest black bear smong those in his hunting party that went to Maine early last month.
He got a $100 bonus from the hotel for bagging the biggest bear. His mom says he is a phenomenal shot.

God bless you, young lady. If this helps to ease the pain & suffering that you have endured in your short life, and the pain & suffering to come, then I say ‘Wonderful’.
I, myself gave up hunting about 25 years ago. Didn’t see the point in it for myself (other than ridding the land of future vehicle crashes & insurance claims).
I have no moral qualms over others that wish to hunt. If the shoe was on the other foot and civilization collapsed (always a possibility), the animals would have no moral qualms over hunting us. And they do, regardless.

I got one thing to add, hunting or fishing with your kid, especially hunting, are time neither one of you will ever forget. My kids, 2 boy and my daughter always bring up those memories. It’s what important. Boys suffer some during those conversation because Katie was always by far he better shot.

This will drive the bear huggers to howl.
Now killing the Alaskan bear that ate Richard White in order to examine it’s stomach contents was a waste of bear.

I know that made her feel great. Bear is the best trophy in my opinion. King of the wilderness.
I wish the little lady well.

That’s because the true Make-A-Wish foundation doesn’t grant hunting wishes. A boy (about the same age as Kaitlynn) was diagnosed with cancer and Make-A-Wish was more than happy to grant him his wish. Until they found out he wanted to go bear hunting. They were aghast that he didn’t want to meet Bill Clinton or canvass for the democrats. So they denied it.
You have to look outside of Make-A-Wish to get a real wish.

SgtZim- the reason the commenters were so harsh is because a little 11 year old girl has bigger balls than they do. Can’t grow big cajones drinking wheat grass tofu shakes.

Horrible!!!!! And disgusting. What the hell does anyone do with a bear? It’s not like you eat it. Just a terrible waste of a beautiful animal’s life.

Labonbon,
Actually black bear is very tasty. But, like any wild game you have to know how to prepare it.
A 335 black bear is a respectable kill for any beginning hunter. Good for her.
BTW, we havs a DNR and they manage they wildlife and determine how many can be harvested.
