Ain’t that the truth. Licensing, licensing! There is some serious money to be had there by golly.
(As a kid, I hated both Sesame Street and Electric Company. Always felt as if they thought I was stupid of something…didn’t like the songs or the characters.
Now, The Banana Splits, The Bugaloos,Land of the Lost, Looney Tunes…I’d watch for hours.)

Why do we subsidize “Children’s Television Workshop” with taxpayer funds? I’ve wondered that for 35 years. Besides, PBS programming is lame and provides nothing that can’t be found on for-profit channels.
Most kids don’t watch that PBS drek anyway. This is just another way that the Dem-Cong use other people’s money to finance their pet projects.
Yep. Looney Tunes sold me on reality. PBS was about as nourishing and intelligent as a PBJ sandwich. Eff U, Big Bird. Bugs Bunny taught me how to laugh like an American.

I heard that the licensing is not like a typical business model.
You would think that all the Tickle-Me-Elmo sales would cover the cost of PBS. Wrong.
Most of the money goes to the UK and Canada.

Public broadcasting is getting $445,000,000. from the fascist federal government per year. The Corporation for Public Broadcasting loves its Corporate welfare. ‘Time to eliminate welfare for the biggest and wealthiest broadcasters in the country! There’s no moral or ethical justification for it and they DON’T NEED it.
But there’s $100 billion in corporate subsidies out there that need to be eliminated or drastically cut. This Forbes article does a pretty good breakdown of the categories where these billions go, but not specifics. http://tinyurl.com/8l5onkx

I’ve been thinking of starting my own publicly funded cartoon and calling it Washington Street, with the main character being Big Green Bird.
That should automatically qualify me for a cool 20-30 mill of taxpayer Green intitiative money.
