The Cleveland Clinic, cited as a “model” by Obama, is actually illegal under Obamacare

Here’s a Fun Fact.

Standing up for his health care law during last night’s debate President Obama cited the Cleveland Clinic as a “model” for how Obamacare should be implemented nationwide.

But there’s only one small problem with that. Something my blog bud Proof pointed out in the comments to my debate post.

I think it deserves to be highlighted, maybe in an ad from the RNC. Because it’s a doozy.

The Cleveland Clinic is owned by doctors. But thanks to Obamacare it’s illegal for doctors to own hospitals.

Section 6001 of the health care law effectively bans new physician-owned hospitals (POHs) from starting up, and it keeps existing ones from expanding. It has already halted the development of 24 new physician-owned hospitals and forced an additional 47 to struggle to meet the deadline to complete construction, according to the Physician Hospitals of America (PHA).

You couldn’t build the Cleveland Clinic today if you wanted to.

Oops.

The Clinic is also largest landholder that pays ZERO property tax. So they spread out far and wide through NE Ohio and build luxury halls of medicine to celebrate their largess.

When a pair of aspirin cost ya $500, too bad for you, oh wait your a Medicare patient? Soak the tax payer.

They took over my local hospital Medina General – now named Medina Hospital. First off annoyed with an unnecessary name change, secondly, what used to be a nice, patient-friendly hospital has changed It’s much more business vs, patient. My dad spent some of his last days there – and they shoved him off in a small bed in a shared room, where he didn’t even get half the room. Based on what I’ve experienced, I’m no fan.

I liked the look on 0bama’s face during the debate when Romney hit him with the fact about 50% of doctors not going to take on medicare patients under 0bamacare. I hope Romney hits him with this one also.

Anyone under Obamas plan making a profit are considered illegal.

Obama cites Cl. Clinic as a positive implementation of ObamaCare that makes Cl. Clinic illegal. How TWISTED is that man-child fraud, anyhow?

The Cleveland Clinic is NOT a “physician-owned” hospital. The Clinic was incorporated in 1921 as an Ohio nonprofit corporation; as such, there are no shares and no “owners” who receive dividends. The corporation is governed by a Board of Directors that may not personally profit (receive dividends) from the hospital’s operation. In point of fact, every physician at the Clinic is an employee, NOT a partner or shareholder. Such a structure is not prohibited in any way by the Affordable Care Act, i.,e., Obamacare.
