HURT: Obama the debater: Making Jimmy Carter look awesome

Home - by - October 4, 2012 - 09:30 America/New_York - 33 Comments

Washington Times

Party like it’s 1980!

Bewildered and lost without his teleprompter, President Obama flailed all around the debate stage last night. He was stuttering, nervous and petulant. It was like he had been called in front of the principal after goofing around for four years and blowing off all his homework.

Not since Jimmy Carter faced Ronald Reagan has the U.S. presidency been so embarrassingly represented in public. Actually, that’s an insult to Jimmy Carter.

The split screen was most devastating. Mitt Romney spoke forthrightly, with carefully studied facts and details at the ready. He looked right at the president and accused him of being miles out of his depth.

Mr. Obama? His eyes were glued to his lectern, looking guilty and angry and impatient with all the vagaries of Democracy. This debate was seriously chaffing him.

What exactly was Mr. Obama’s strategy here? Did he figure with so many people unemployed in this abomination of an economy he should go for the sympathy vote? Like voters could relate to a guy who is just scared pantsless that he is about to lose his job?

In the middle of the blood-letting segment about jobs, Mr. Romney said good-naturedly: “This is fun.”

Almost pleading, Mr. Obama reached out to the moderator for a lifeline: “You may want to move onto another topic.”

When an unexpected noise went off behind him, Mr. Obama wheeled around to look as if to ask, “Time to go?”

Hopefully.

Turns out, it was the first honest thing we have heard from Mr. Obama’s campaign: The president really was absolutely terrible on the debate stage.

The lefty hive/media is dancing their memes to each other and now out in public.

    Here are the main ones:

1.Jim Lehrer was crappy and didn’t challenge Rmoney (sic)(IOTW-he didn’t protect and promote Obysmal as the media has always done)

2.Are you ready? Obama didn’t have time to adapt to the Denver altitude.

That was a fantastic debate on Mitt’s behalf. Courteous, direct and human. And what was more enjoyable was watching all the main stream media talking heads try to put a smiley face on what was a complete and utter truth – that being Obama is just an empty suit without any concept on how to govern, lead or take responsibility for his actions.

Let the blames begin: It’s all Bush’s fault, they didn’t use the questions I sent, they asked different questions than they said they would, it’s the altitude, he was distracted by important issues around the world, had to get outta there, sasquatch was waiting…

the only thing that was missing from last night, I was hoping Mitt would have said something about cutting aid to other countries, maybe then we could keep PBS (big bird) and fund our space program.
why are we giving aid to people who hate us?

Isn’t it time for barry to go fill in his brackets or something? I’d rather watch Romney just respond to the moderator’s questions than to watch the preezy try to box his way out his wet paper bag again.

It is obvious that Obama didn’t do his homework, didn’t prepare, didn’t listen to his advisors.

Isn’t this the way of his whole life? Hasn’t he always coasted in on the shoulders of others, benefited from affirmitive action and been a personable, likeable guy?

That just won’t cut it anymore.

I wonder, however, if he will even be able to change and prepare for the next debate? I don’t think he has the deep down experience or ability to work hard.

‘Romney: Do not misrepresent my positions in my presence’

Misinformation is the cornerstone of the Obama campaign. Romney refused to allow Obama to fog his positions and message in his presence and before a national audience. Obama has escaped scrutiny for four years due to the controlled media and the absence of honest press conferences. He has been allowed to speak half truths before national audiences (Alito, State of the Union) and in controlled atmospheres that did not allow rebuttal or refutation.

The first debate was a joy. Refreshing. It was like watching a caged bird released and take to wing. The joy of honest facts elegantly delivered meeting dogma and disinformation was great theater.

Romney possessed knowledge of the issues and exhibited on the fly cogitations. Obama seemed stuck in his debate team’s tactics which seem to be grounded in misrepresenting Romney’s positions. Romney corrected him repeatedly, and the blunt denial of Obama’s accusations seemed not to register with Obama, for he continued to repeat the misrepresentations. This became glaring. One might wonder if Obama even understood of what Romney was speaking or if he even had command of the facts of the issue at hand.

Obama repeatedly attempted to place words in Romney’s mouth. That may work when Romney is not in the room. Romney would not allow it. Obama seemed unable to cease as if it was his only tact.
    Romney clarifications included,

I will not raise taxes on the middle class despite the claims of your commissioned studies.

I will not abandon the pre existing conditioned in my health insurance scheme.

Tax breaks for the Oil industry pales in comparison to the 50 Billion dollars of tax breaks to the Green Industry in the past four years. Tax breaks for the Oil Industry will be scrutinized and on the table for reconsideration.

More teachers does not mean better education. Better teachers means better education.

I am not against all regulation, just bad regulation. Wall Street does need regulation, as do other segments of the economy. Dodd-Frank creates problems of mortgage origination which has frozen the housing market. Just one example of bad regulation.

I will not make tax cuts that will raise the deficit.

The Medicare vouchers are optional. The person may take Medicare as it exists, or receive a voucher for private insurance.

One might be left with the impression that Obama couldn’t believe that Romney actually held these positions . Perhaps he has spent too much time in the Axelrod-Jarett bubble.

Romney dismantled the propaganda of Axelrod and company. Well done Mitt.

Excellent point made by Rush Limbaugh with regard to why Obama did not bring up the “47%” flap like the MSNBC folks wanted. If there was ever an issue or point Romney was over-prepared on, this was likely it.

In baseball parlance, you don’t throw the curve ball when the batter is expecting the curve ball. From a strategy standpoint, Obama should have stayed away from this (and just let the MSM hammer the point in their cheer leading role), and the fact that the leftists are moaning about this just underscores how bad Obama did even in their opinion.

    New game.

Jim Lehrer should go into full retirement today. In the attempt to find any excuse to save the “littlest organizer” they will not only throw Lehrer under the bus, the will back over him repeatedly.

Who’s surprised by this: First thing this morning barry goes on the stump to tell his peeps that Romney lied — throughout the debate. Is he freakin’ kidding?! Does he remember there is another debate coming up?!

Romney: “Look, dude, how many times do I have to tell you…?”

Lehrer did fine – he wasn’t the problem. His questions were open-ended and the candidates were free to shine or fail. Sure, the candidates went over their time, even to the extent of losing one of the “pods,” but I appreciated the fact that Lehrer did let them explain themselves and set their positions.

What Romney would do in this type of scenario was an unknown. However, it was predictable that Obama would fail in this type of format because Obama needs a tightly controlled script. The MSM has been free to ignore Obama’s gaffes when he is put in an unscripted situation with open-ended questions, but he was exposed on live television and there was nothing that MSNBC could do about it.

Obama’s camp will undoubtably put pressure on the next debate organizers to have a more scripted format.

It is obvious that 0bama didn’t do his homework, didn’t prepare, didn’t listen to his advisors.

I’m not so sure about that. I know I’ll sound like a conspiracy theorist, but we are talking about socialist politics.

This may have been planned. I don’t believe for one second that 0bama’s handlers are stupid. 0bama is stupid, but the people around him are not and are there to protect him. This was a calculated effort on their part. Come the next debate, 0bama will look ready; he’ll look confident; he’ll look “presidential.” Wait and see. This whole look-down-and-mumble scenario will be replaced with Mr. Personality.

If Mitt and his advisors think they thrashed 0bama, then they’ll lose debate number 2. This is the bigs. Play like you just got walloped last game. Mitt had better put his shoulder to the wheel and get to work. Treat debate 2 like you lost debate 1. Go for the jugular. 0bama’s handlers will.

And by the way, Larry Czonka (of the 1972 Dolphins who went 17-0) said, “If you believe you’re the team of destiny, that you are destined to win, destiny will jump up and bite you in the ass.”

Get to work Mitt. You not only have to play against the other team, but you have to play against the officials and the writers, too.
