    Romney was on the offensive.
    Obama was sedate.

    But Obama did not commit any *gaffes*.
    And Romney did not throw any massive blows.

    Overall, Obama did appear a incompetent though. He was not simply out-debated. He looked rattled and stupid.
    Add to that the fact that this election is about the incumbent, not the challenger.

    However, if we are to trust there is no systemic polling failure, 49% of voters have already say they’re willing to reelect Obama.
    So the question is: did this debate introduced NEW INFORMATION that could change their minds ??

    “If anything, the first 2012 debate provides a good case study about how important debates actually are. If Romney cannot significantly move the polls after turning in such a strong performance against Obama, what is left on the calendar to change the numbers in his favor? (Maybe the two jobs reports or an unscheduled October/November surprise?) Meanwhile, if Romney does make significant gains — cutting into or even erasing the president’s national lead and gaining ground in the swing states, particularly in vital Ohio — will Obama be able to recapture momentum in the debates to come? At least we now have a reason to stay tuned.”

    @Brad, @Stranded, other CA folks–

    Team Romney is paying expenses for Californians who will travel to Reno all weekends from now to the election to walk precincts and/or make phone calls:

    http://www.mittromney.com/forms/CAHelpMittWinNV?utm_medium=email&utm_source=et&utm_content=img_body_http%3a%2f%2fwww.mittromney.com%2fforms%2fCAHelpMittWinNV&utm_campaign=1810550_114116_Team%20CA

    I went with our local Tea Party group last weekend; 110+ Californians descended on Reno and made over 6000 contacts (homes and calls). [repost]

    I think Romney was masterful in the debate, but I have some concerns. Our economy is in a shambles, and Obama wisely stayed away from his dismal economic record. Obama’s comments on ObamaCare primarily revolved around a comparison between ObamaCare and Romney’s Massachusetts plan. Obama wants to raise taxes when we are still in recession. Obama has fostered class warfare and racial tensions, which Romney wisely stayed away from. He won’t work with anyone in Congress – Republican or Democrat. And so on and so forth.

    So why do so many people think he is great? The MSNBC crowd shares only a few active brain cells between them – I get that – but the fact remains that Obama has been a disaster as President. If he were a Republican, I would either vote for someone else or not vote at all – Obama and the left wing of the Democrat party are completely incapable of competent government.

    what do you mean ‘acting’?

    My question was: should we be expecting the MSM to recognize the fact that Mitt won it handily?
    Should we be expecting a bounce in the polls?, strengthening that recognition…

    In other words: should we be expecting the narrative to change in favour of Mitt, at least for a coupla days?
