Producers of Dinesh D’Souza’s documentary, “2016: Obama’s America,” have informed the FBI that someone illegally uploaded the film to YouTube in “what they suspect to be an organized effort to drive viewers away from the theatrical showing of the film.”

Late Sunday night, someone uploaded the entire film to YouTube. In a statement released Monday, the producers said that they suspect opponents of the film put it on the Internet to diffuse box office sales.

“It has now been taken down and we have informed the FBI which is launching a vigorous investigation,” said producer Doug Sain. “We urge all Americans to respect the copyright of this film and not place themselves in legal jeopardy by engaging in illegal activity in the form of viewing or downloading the movie online.”

Hey FBI!
Suspect number one should be Michael Moore.

Isn’t the FBI under Eric “The Red” Holder? Good luck with that.

I, along with some friends, watched 2016 The Movie at the Palisades Mall in Nyack two weeks ago. Sunday night I watched it again on youtube. I thought it was legit. I tried to watch it again on Monday but it was gone. Now I know why.
Sorry Dinesh. I got the link on a friendly blog.

I’m still waiting to buy a few copies of the DVD… hopefully before the election.

As with most things internet, the one at fault is the uploader, the youtube account holder. Not the viewer(s).

Moonbattery posted the link, everyone on that site thought it was legit and was glad to simply get “the word out.”

As it was a private link, someone gave it to MB.

Well I was unaware and viewed it on YouTube. So I think to make things right I will go pay to see it on the big screen and to observe the audience reaction.

@IOpian — As with all the other conservative films that are making their way onto the big screen, a huge part of the enjoyment is experiencing the “you are not alone” feeling when everyone erupts into cheering, jeering, clapping, laughing and almost always someone punctuates the house lights going up with “See you in November!”

Meanwhile a 78 year old grandmother is hit with a $332,000 fine because her grandson illegally downloaded eight songs from the internet.

I too thought the video was legit, I got the link from a ranking member of the local TEA Party.

The YouTube TOS for unlisted videos says it’s ok to embed in blogs.

It also looked like original digital content, not some pirated version shot surreptitiously with a hand cam in a theater.

Since it’s not out on DVD yet, whoever did it must have some connection to the production company or copied it from a theatrical release.

I saw the link for youtube but was suspicious about it and decided to wait until it shows in my town. How could they get it on youtube when it just came out in theaters?

The people who made the movie deserve the money for it. Gonna watch it with my daughter in the theater.

If D’souza really cared about the election he would upload the video to youtube himself, he’s already made money.

I thought it was a legit link and watched it and shared it with my family and close friends who i knew would not go see it in the movie theater and they watched it too and were glad they did…

realizing now this not authorized is sad, i wonder how many people this movie touched who couldnt afford to go into a theater to see it or it wasnt playing in their area (to go to a movie for two adults and a babysitter is $40 easy)

to the people who made the movie ~ thank you maybe you touched people who otherwise might not have been able to see it before this election.

like someone said above I will go see it in the theater to do my part :)

Be careful before saying someone “has made enough money”. That’s the same line of thinking that our President adores.

    @ Jill – “our President”

I agree with your sentiment on “enough money,” but not your attributive adjective pronoun if you’re implying he’s my President.

While you’re waiting for ANYTHING to happen about this, earn your degree, eat your dinner, see a movie, etc. In other words, the best of luck! Might as well get on with life…. Excuse the cynicism.
