Pirate’s Cove

How many times in the last week have we heard that the “U.S. rejects “all efforts to denigrate the religious beliefs of others”” and that the Obama admin and State Dept. “absolutely reject its content and message” when it comes to the video being used as a scapegoat for the Islamist violence and protests which just happened to occur on September 11? The Obama admin. even went as far as asking Google to see if the trailers for the movie violated YouTube’s terms of service, and the filmaker just happened to get a midnight visit from a ton of police. People wondered if Team Obama would do the same when it came to religions other than Islam being insulted. They were quite silent on the play “The Book Of Mormon”, and ……

I know I’m taking a huge risk, and I might be murdered in the street… but here is the image of the crucifix immersed in a bucket of the artist’s piss.

Are you shitting me…? Perfect timing, kind of a “back at ya…” Well, I suppose if I wasn’t supporting a family, the US Government and the 47% of the, mostly leaches; I would drive (ah, shit that’s right, gas prices- crap) to New York and join the throng of angry extremests to RIOT in protest. I mean it’s only natural to do so… NOT!! Just like all of us, I am strapped with bills, an upside down mortgage, college tuition etc. as OPPOSED to all those goat herding filthy dust covered middle east shit sacks. Is there a Libyian Embassy in New York? I might be swayed…

The civilized world has made three essential mistakes in dealing with Islam:

    1) Allowing a totalitarian theocracy to operate under the guise of religion.

    2) Showing respect for the demand that free societies must acquiesce to Islam.

    3) Rewarding terrorism and mob violence with appeasement.

The above was part of a lengthy diatribe I deposited on another blog today, and I’m glad you posted this story because I can add another mistake to the list:

4] Allowing double standards to exist between Islam and civilized cultures.

The muslims want mohammed and the koran to be sacred.
Sacred are those things that belonged to the divine sphere.
The sacred things are removed from the free usage and commerce of mankind.
The idea of “sacrilege” stemmed from this circumscription and consisted in its violation.

Profanation is the opposite. If consecration means leaving of the sphere of human law, profanation signified returning something to the free usage of mankind.

To profane is thus to return the things that had
become subject to a state of sacred exception.

The key is to show that Judeo-Christianity encourages profanation, whilst satanic cults do the opposite.

To profane something is in no sense to debase its nature or reduce its value. It is, instead, a positive act for the simple reason that it liberates things and practices for communal usage.

    Pure, profane, free.

Our goal is to free things from the “sacred names” that set them apart as the province of the
few; it is to return the things of the world to their natural context: “common usage.”

Isn’t it precisely what the historical Jesus did?

Hee hee that’s very nice of you and it wasn’t all that long – but I’ve got this desire to boil things down to their essence and am not satisfied with things longer than absolutely necessary – so it’s still a work in progress, as you can see from the addition of the double standard inclusion above.

The current mess we’re (and throughout this diatribe, ‘we’ refers to the civilized world) in is entirely our fault – or more appropriately – our leaders’ fault, for incorrectly dealing with the greatest threat the world has faced since WWII. Each of the mistakes listed above needs to be addressed and corrected or Islam will continue its subjugation of the world.

Keiko, you’re absolutely right that we need to push back, but we must do so legally, responsibly, and without feeding the massive inferiority complex that is Islam. It’s imperative that free countries hold Muslims to exactly the same standards as other citizens and groups; any special treatment, positive or negative, strengthens the beast. I don’t believe in so-called Moderate Muslims, but I do think that many non-violent Muslims would abandon open support for jihad if existing laws applied equally to all citizens, particularly those regarding mob violence. Islam and Occupy Whatever have redefined the term ‘peaceful protest’ to include pretty much everything up to actual murder; we need to reaffirm the right to peaceful protest but at the same time set clear boundaries on what is acceptable behavior for large public groups.

On a more depressing note, I fully expect for Obama to enact, via Executive Order, a new religious hate law that on the surface appears to be nondiscriminatory but is actually biased against Christianity (much the same way Obamacare is biased against the RCC) and either supports or exempts Islam – whether he wins the election or not. Executive Orders are difficult to override and I think we’ll see Obama enact a host of them immediately after the election, regardless of the election’s outcome.

“Congress cannot directly vote to override an executive order in the way they can a veto. Instead, Congress must pass a bill canceling or changing the order in a manner they see fit. The president will typically veto that bill, and then Congress can try to override the veto of that second bill. The Supreme Court can also declare an executive order to be unconstitutional. Congressional cancellation of an order is extremely rare.”

The reason Christians don’t get really pissed off and start breaking up and burning the furniture is because God told us in the first two of His commandments to worship no other God and to not make and worship idols. Even a crucifix or picture of Jesus Christ should not be anything more than superficially symbolic. They’re man-made, they can be man-destroyed. I can’t fathom killing someone over destruction of a symbol. At least when our enemies do these destructive things, we don’t have to guess at who they are, right?

I saw “Last Ounce of Courage” today. It was a sweet film with a powerful and uncomplicated message. It won’t win any prizes for screenplay or acting, but it adds its voice to the conservative film-making pile on that is happening at the theaters this year. If it’s playing in your area I urge you to take your kids; it’s a simple but timely antidote to the hypocritical messages coming out of the preezy’s mouth right now.

    @AbigailAdams

    Are you an iconoclast?

You’re right: The crucifix is not an icon, but a SYMBOL.

A picture or a statue of Crist is not a symbol, but an ICON.

Icons are not representative, so they don’t go against the commandments prescribed to Moses: the icons open a space of communion between you and Christ, to feel His presence.

    The flag is a symbol.

Folks should be able to burn it. No law should consecrate it, to prohibit any kind of use of the flag.

We should promote a free and wild use of the flag, the koran and of any symbols and icons.

Conversely, I would not disrespect another countries flag, and until lately I would not urinate on their Kuran. How far can we be pushed.

@Dagny — Good question. I’m a Christian who is in the world but not of the world. And anything in world, man-made, will eventually be destroyed. Even the holiest of holies will crumble to dust or be lost. My point is that the reason Christians (at least this Christian) don’t go around murdering people who desecrate Christian images is because we don’t mistake the thing for God. That would be religious zealotry and not the teachings of Jesus Christ.

    No, I’m not an iconoclast.

Christ is My God, does this insult me? no I feel sorry for the person who did it.
Does it insult or hurt Christ? no He will offer salvation to the so called artist as long as he lives and then when the two meet it will be for the first and last time. Jesus Christ is bigger than any insult man can throw at Him, and He is just and rightous. A loving God, and a gracious Savior.
