State Department spending $70G on Pakistan ads denouncing anti-Islam film
The American Embassy in Islamabad, in a bid to tamp down public rage over the anti-Islam film produced in the U.S., is spending $70,000 to air an ad on Pakistani television that features President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton denouncing the video.
The State Department said Thursday the embassy had compiled brief clips of Obama and Clinton rejecting the contents of the movie and extolling American tolerance for all religions into a 30-second public service announcement that is running on seven Pakistani networks. Obama and Clinton’s comments, which are from previous public events in Washington, are in English but subtitled in Urdu, the main Pakistani language.
Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said the aim was to get the messages to the widest possible audience in Pakistan, where tens of thousands of protestors angry about the film tried to reach the U.S. embassy before being turned back by Pakistani police. She said embassy staffers had decided the ads were the best way to spread the word. The seven networks have a potential audience of 90 million people, she added.
“The sense was that this particular aspect of the president and the secretary’s message needed to be heard by more Pakistanis than had heard, and that this was an effective way to get that message out,” Nuland told reporters in Washington. The ads are not running in other countries, she said.

Gee, wouldn’t it be more cost effective to send Obama over there to apologize and then kiss their ass to make it all better? ~sarcasm~ (or is it?)

These guys are absolutely clueless on the thoughts of an enemy.
They run ads,and now the riots and killings are worse then before in Pakistalin…brilliant move.
I guess they figured the media lie campaign was and is so successful over here that it should work against people who hate and want to see us dead over there.

From the article:
“Obama and Clinton’s comments, which are from previous public events in Washington, are in English but subtitled in Urdu, the main Pakistani language.”
Whether you’ll ever see the actual statements run in Pakistan is another story entirely. But the statements were public so they are probably out there somewere on the internet.

Why didn’t they use their military to protect them, they KNEW weeks before we did it was coming and they did nothing, either!!!

If Obama were president in the 70s he’d take out an ad apologizing for the dog that told Son of Sam to kill six people.

The same way they spent tens of thousands to denounce “The Last Temptation of Christ” and “The DaVinci Code,” in order to appease rioting Christians and… – oh…

Apologize for what? We should be suggesting they straighten up and fly right or the bombing campaign begins.

The fact that the President and the Secretary of State appear and reject Innocence of Muslims just reinforces the idea that the government can control speech in this country. I know Hillary mentioned that the government had nothing to do with the film, but people who live under strict government control don’t understand the words – they only understand important U.S. officials apologizing for the film, so therefore these important U.S. officials must have some control over the film
I have been amazed over the past few days at the number of people who want the Feds to do something about this type of free speech. This was a 14 minute trailer for a bad movie, but some Americans are letting ignorant and bigoted third world people control the dialogue about one of the most important rights we possess. Sad.
