Carney: Ask State Dept.

(CNSNews.com) – White House Press Secretary Jay Carney told reporters at the White House press briefing on Wednesday that they should ask the State Department if they wanted to find out who decided not to station Marines at U.S. diplomatic posts in Libya, where the U.S. ambassador and three others were killed at the U.S. consulate in Benghazi on the eleventh anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

ABC White House Correspondent Jake Tapper asked Carney: “In the wake of the attacks on Benghazi, the Pentagon and the State Department both made statements that they then had to correct, the Pentagon involving whether or not there were Marines at the embassy in Tripoli–there were not–and the State Department regarding the presence of security firms at the Benghazi compound. Why was there such confusion and is the White House conducting any sort of internal investigation as to what went wrong”?

Carney answered, “Well, there is an ongoing investigation as to what happened in Benghazi that’s being led by the FBI –”

“I’m not talking about the criminal act,” said Tapper. “I’m talking about the–obviously there wasn’t adequate security along the lines of what went wrong–about what the administration could have done better.”

OK and while your at it ask why we even have an Embassy, Ambassador and Staff set up in a place with no security and independent armed militias roaming the streets with heavy weapons?

Then ask just what is the standard for providing security to our Embassys?

Hey Carney I’ll help you with the ongoing investigation.
The entire administration is the most corrupt in history and can’t take responsibly for anything.
I think that pretty well sums it up.

Has any WH pool reporter asked Carney if the president has considered asking for SoS Clinton’s resignation and if not, what level of incompetence/failure would warrant that request? White House can not have it both ways. Can’t throw Hillary under the bus and then claims she is doing an adequate job in the most important cabinet position.

Just think how much more “flexibility” this slimeball Preezy and his Adminaclusterfuck would have at their disposal, in a second term ?

The sunny side is, there would be NOTHING left way short of 4 years

@beezzer – I think you mean have they accepted blame for anything?

The Obamessiah takes a lot of credit – usually when it’s not deserved. Such as, “I killed Osama Bin Laden”. And then, slow Joe doubles down by rubbing it in the face of al qaeda at the democrat national convention.

Gee, could that possibly have been a factor in this attack?

Grow some balls (i.e. real journalistic ethics) and ask some real questions.

    Why the softball crap?

The White House is responsible for this. Hold him accountable and stop beating around the Bush………..

You know what? Pardon the capslock rant but, THOSE “3 OTHERS” HAVE FRICKIN NAMES TOO!!!! It was not “Ambassador Chris Stevens and 3 others” who were killed! It was four equally precious and important Americans who were killed by obama’s policies, and it PISSES ME OFF THAT NO ONE EVER MENTIONS THE NAMES OF THE PATRIOTS WHO LOST THEIR LIVES PROTECTING THAT SCUMBAG POLITICIAN, AS IF THEY ARE INSIGNIFICANT!!!!! Just like in Az, It wasn’t “Gabby Giffords and 9 others” who were killed… There were 10 AMERICANS, WHO ALL HAVE NAMES!!! If the names of “the others” aren’t worthy of mention, then the names of the politicians are DAMN SURE NOT worth mentioning!!!

That was not aimed at IOTW specifically, but at the “media” in total. The fact that Giffords and Stevens has been drilled into the conscious minds of the entire nation, while the others so rare that even those of us who follow the news don’t know them, is a tragedy and a crime against their humanity!

    @ Racist

I hear ya. But I think they mention names of top people on purpose. His title was the highest, therefore his name is the one most interesting to people.

Likewise, if Tiger Woods and 9 amateur golfers were killed by a gunman, Tiger Woods name would be the only one that was mentioned and/or remembered.

I’m not excusing it or downplaying your excellent point. But it’s just the way news is….

Every once in a blue moon Tapper asks a hard question to maintain some semblance of journalistic integrity. Beck has hinted that he’s in talks with some of the Tapper types who are interested in joining his news operation but just can’t let go because they don’t see the inevitable collapse of the dinosaur media.

I think he’s wasting his time. I’d be looking to hire reporters who are unbiased or who were from the get-go.

I would agree. But, if you can get some trustworthy insiders (Bernie Goldberg), think of the tactics they could thwart because they ‘know thine enemy’….
