Chinese General: Prepare for Combat
China’s most powerful military leader, in an unusual public statement, last week ordered military forces to prepare for combat, as Chinese warships deployed to waters near disputed islands and anti-Japan protests throughout the country turned violent.
Protests against the Japanese government’s purchase of three privately held islands in the Senkakus chain led to mass street protests, the burning of Japanese flags, and attacks on Japanese businesses and cars in several cities. Some carried signs that read “Kill all Japanese,” and “Fight to the Death” over disputed islands. One sign urged China to threaten a nuclear strike against Japan.
Gen. Xu Caihou, vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, considered the most senior military political commissar, said Friday that military forces should be “prepared for any possible military combat,” state run Xinhua news agency reported.

I’m certain all the Japanese anti-nuke pacifists are on their way to San Francisco as we speak. Another liberal victory!

Let’s see, Japan, a friend and ally, the Chinese, our creditor and not so much a friend and ally. Who do you think Obama will stand toe to toe with?

China doesn’t have protests unless the authoritarian Communist government allows them. It’s a distraction to keep anger focused outward, away from the corrupt government building ghost cities and collapsing bridges.

If China attacks Japan, look for the collapse of the Chinese economy, which is build entirely on good relations with the rest of the world.
When that happens, the Obama hits the fan…

The Japanese have a diminutive military so they will have to rely on us for protection. Just give the Chinese the fucking islands and save the hassle.

The Treaty of Mutual Cooperation and Security with Japan requires that we defend them if they are attacked. Woo hoo, another war. Good thing our military is strong enough to fight on six simultaneous fronts, right? Right?

Will the Chinese loan us enough money to fight a war?

@Billy Fuster–
“Just give the Chinese the fucking islands and save the hassle.”
You need to research the ownership history of those islands, and their strategic importance due to fishing rights and possible undersea oil and gas reserves, before you dismissively suggest that they just give the the “f***ing islands” to the Chinese. Doing your homework is always a smart move.

This could just be saber-rattling, but with the possibility of undersea oil and gas reserves being involved, it moves to an entirely different level (especially as the Japanese have allowed the Chinese to fish in these waters for a very long time). These islands are located very close to Taiwan, so that issue is probably also in play.

China and Japan are old enemies. Most recently being WWII when the Japanese did some brutal stuff to the Chinese, barbaric even.
We went in and helped the communist in China at that time. My enemy’s enemy is my friend and all that.
War is a way of life in this world. Name a time span in history where there has not been some d=sort of war or fighting going on.
Name a time in America where we haven’t been engaged in some sort of conflict.
All it takes is a spark and this powder keg will explode….

The Chinese hate the Japanese for a good reason. Still I don’t think they will start a war over this. America loves Japan and likes the Chinese. We will do all we can not to be envolved.

The Chinese would have a tough time sending Muslims to a Sino-Japanese frontline. They’re already trying to cope with Muslim uprisings in Xinjiang, on their western border. A border they share with Afghanistan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan, among other countries. A pleasant, peaceful neighborhood.

Japan, Taiwan, South Korea are all on China’s hit list. If we are sucked into the ME they can pick and choose at will. All 3 of them manufacture about 70% of the electronics we are using.
Last year a flood in Thailand took out hard drive manufacturing and they are still playing catchup.
Imagine these 3 going off line while at war.
It isn’t just war but business, China would pick up on manufacturing most of what they take out in those countries. Count on it.

Don’t forget, this is the diminishing time to take advantage of an impotent America. The world knows whose gonna win the election and time’s running out.
Its take a chance with these odds & act now. Next January things will be different with a resurging USA.

You’re right, and no one’s more disappointed than Ahmadinejad because those nuclear weapons would have been ready by now if not for Stuxnet and those mysteriously exploding nuclear scientists.
