Salman Rushdie Reads from “The Satanic Verses” ON PBS
A long time reader writes:
It is so significant to what is happening right now. You’re all missing the worst hypocrisy of all. Back in 1989, when Salman Rushdie got fatwatized for “The Satanic Verses” libs rushed to the defense of free speech. They went so far as to stage public readings by Gore Vidal and Norman Mailer, even as this horrified National Security officials at the time.
I can’t find a video of that but here is a video of a public reading of “Satanic Verses” that was TELEVISED on PBS in 2006. In this reading Rushdie is clearly mocking the very foundations of Islam itself. He is also calling Mohammed “Mahound” which is the Medieval European term that demonized Mohammed as a false god.
And of course, note how all our currently horrified liberal friends are laughing out loud as Rushdie mocks Islam in the most offensive way (to a Muslim of course) imaginable. Seriously, what Rushdie is doing here dwarfs whatever our hapless video producer was trying to do in his video.
And yet, listen to these hypocrite liberal elitists laugh along with Rushdie and listen to the thunderous ovation at the end. I think we got their ass in a sling now.

Callmelennie: Ya guys, leave my name out of it also. If mooslies or their liberal apologists discovered my identity I’m afraid there could be retaliation. ‘Dead bodies trash day’ isn’t until next Monday and I’d hate to leave them all over the lawn.
Buy guns.

Listen to Rushdie tell his story of how rules and regulations are getting too much for the people to bear.
And these f*ing libtards are laughing and clapping but it is their stupid socialism that is doing that very thing!
You just can’t fix stupid.

I might rethink contributing to PBS if they would have the guts to repeat this feat.

I’m with you 123321123, the book SUCKS. It’s a horrible piece of fiction with an indecipherable plot and as much as I was able to slog through, had little to do with moohammed eyeslam or mooslimbs. The horrible youtube movie that caused the deaths in Syria was more coherent.

Don’t know much about Rushdie – strange name though Rush Die.
From what I saw it seems like he hates all religions equally. Or at least he thinks they’re all fanciful stories at best…..
