(Newser) – Convicted Ohio killer Ronald Post wants a delay of execution because, he says, his scar tissue and 480 pounds of body mass would make lethal injection far too painful, the AP reports. “There is a substantial risk that any attempt to execute him will result in serious physical and psychological pain to him, as well as an execution involving a torturous and lingering death,” his lawyers said in a court filing. His lawyers even added that the 53-year-old is too big for an execution gurney.

They finally executed Mitchell Rupe here in Wash. state by lethal injection. He was also a big blimp who ate too much junk food while in prison but they gave him a lethal injsction anyway after they couldn’t hang him because they were afraid it would decapitate him. Go ahead and execute this creep in Ohio, his weight is not an excuse for them not to execute him. Oh yeah, and ban junk food to all inmates especially those on death row.

In 1983, Post shot a 53 year old motel clerk twice in the back of the head, and stole a money bag and the clerk’s purse. He confessed to the crime and pleaded no contest to the murder charge.
In the twenty-seven years since his conviction, he has apparently thrived on prison food. His victim and her family and loved ones, on the other hand, haven’t fared as well since Post committed his crime.
I’m not really a big death penalty proponent, but these types of stories focus on the convicted murderer in an effort to gain sympathy – with the victim(s) dead and forgotten. Incidentally, her name was Helen Vantz, who did nothing more than be at work at the wrong time and in the wrong place. Excuse me if I don’t feel sorry for Mr. Post.

I was reading that there are a few death row inmates that are using gross obesity as an excuse to dodge the death penalty. Frankly, they should portion control and cut off commissary proviledges for inmates that are this obese. This would be easy to do in the death rows of prisons and would help ensure this type of bullshit doesn’t go on. Hell, when their public defenders or the libs doing it pro bono complain their clients rights are being trampled on the prison could just tell them they are following ensuring that these prisoners are as healthy and as happy as they can be. Well, for at least awhile.

I’ve always said we should make our prisons more like Germany where the prisoners have no rights. They work at manual labor 12 hours a day, no TV, law libraries, or weight piles to make stronger criminals. They’re fed a 1200 calorie diet that is mostly starch and vegetables with only 4 oz. of meat a day.
It is a place nobody wants to go. You do your time and shut the hell up so a guard doesn’t get medieval on your ass and pray for the day you’re released. Also there is no parole, if you do the crime you do the time and all of it.
