The Trouble With Kids Today…
Big Hairy News Blogroll Sunday:
It seems to me that one of the best indicators of this nation’s moral decay is the reprehensible nonsense that passes for humor nowadays.

When I was a boy, people didn’t have time for humor. We were too busy wiping the smirk off Hitler’s face to concern ourselves with mindless tittering and idle guffaws. For us, laughter was like shoe laces or smallpox vaccines – nice to have but not a luxury most of us could afford.
And when we did indulge ourselves in some mindless comic diversion we sought out decent, civilized humorists – men who told knock-knock jokes and lamented their wives outrageous spending and disappointing attempts to make pot roast. Men who peppered us with puns and poked fun at the foibles of nagging mothers-in-laws and the dangers of shady foreigners.
Our comics didn’t denigrate our country’s values – they embodied them.

I almost wrote something in the same vein on the karaoke post. Much of entertainment today is mean, filthy, and a self centered demand for attention: consider karaoke girl’s vocal style or Kathy Griffin’s unending fixation on her vajayjay. The fact is it takes more talent – and balls – to be funny and clean and civil.
Now let’s separate the spring chickens from the roosters: who got the Fatty Arbuckle reference about righteous indignation?

For a crabby old fart he is right on the money.
But humor is dead. unless it is libs poking fun at WASP’s that is. Everyone is too PC to do any real ribbing nowadays.
Nothing is shocking anymore and everything has been done, nothing new.
Except that freaking Honey Badger crap.

My dad fought in WW2. Just before he and his poor farm-boy buddies joined up, there was a statue dedication to take place one day for the town founder. I was quite young when he told me the story but I remember him saying that the fellow had a whole herd of kids. And for a joke, my dad and his friends attached to the brand new yet to be seen draped statue a large salami and two hairy coconuts — which remained hidden until the un-draping of the statue at the big ceremony the next day. Everybody was there and most people thought that was pretty damn funny. It was a fitting tribute to the man’s reproductive efforts.
Humor is the best tool for survival.

I liked W.C. Fields in some old flicks, Henny Youngman on Carson once in a while, Bob Hope in old movies again and specials of him live on stage for the troops, a little of the Gaucho Brothers and bit for Jack Benny, and few more CLEAN and DECENT comedians. If anything, they proved that there was no need to be dirty and disgusting to make people laugh. And what some may have done in ADULT nightclubs is beside the point. They were still proper with the mass/general audience in the theater and on television.

Give some Jack Benny or Fibber McGee and Molly any day of the week compared to most of what passes for humor nowadays. Or even Jean Shepherd with radio essays on Creeping meatballism. I love listening to Stan Freberg, Bob and Ray etc.

Mr. Hat. If you could, put him in your blog roll, he won’t know what hit him . Replace him with some of the links that are shut down. The first time I ran across the Crabby Old Fart was 4 or 5 years ago. He sounds like your uncle, or you. I too Have found many great sites going out to sites that have been on side bars. (IOTW was one).

I cry PHONEY! This is no crabby old fart because he chose the smallest font available to modern man. A true crabby old fart would have chosen a LARGE FONT so that other old farts (like me) could read the FRICKIN’ PAGE! THIS REALLY PISSES ME OFF!!

Nothing is more pathetic than seeing a friend’s 32-year-old son-in-law laughing uproariously on the couch at the inane shows on Comedy Central. I really felt sorry for her daughter.

I’ve watched quite a few people’s reactions to the uber-dolt David Letterman. Virtually all of them found him to be quite un-funny at first but after month or years of having their liberal dolt peers ask “isn’t he hilarious” over and over again they go along with the crowd and laugh. IMHO this is where many of these lousy comedians get their reputations. So called critics and experts endorse some dope’s lousy attempt at humor and many people follow along. Sadly many of these dopes become financially wealthy in the process.
How did these jerks get to be considered funny ?
How the heck did Dr. Spock, a childless, liberal, academic, ACLU member get to be considered an “expert” on child rearing?
I’ve been watching videos of Andrew Breitbart at the Heritage foundation and re-reading Righteous Indignation recently so my first reaction is Cultural Marxism. Antonio Gramsci and his band of bastards made “the long march through the institutions” and set up fellow anti-American Marxists as teachers and opinion shapers to destroy us from within.
If you want to get a better idea of how this cultural rot happened, watch this …

Andrew Breitbart recounts his experience in college as an American Studies major wherein he was instructed why he should hate America. Millions like him have ever and will never wake up to the brainwashing that occurred via our country’s University system
It’s 30 min but well worth your time, and so is Andrew’s book (God rest his soul).

Couldn’t agree more. But, I’m not an old fart by any stretch. At least I don’t think so.
Anyway, what passes for “funny” in movies and TV shows now is crude, rude, vile and disgusting. They try every little trick they can to insert immorality and sinfulness as acceptable while making fun of morals, ethics and values.
Avoid it like the plague it is…..
