It’s fine to criticize Romney’s views; that’s how a debate of substance takes place. It’s also fine to question the timing of his statement (though that’s a question of strategy and tactics, not substance).

This was something different. This was an effort — not entirely conscious — to make it illegitimate for Romney to criticize the president’s foreign policy at a moment when foreign policy has suddenly taken center stage.

But that’s exactly when such a debate should take place — because it’s when the public will actually pay attention.

I agree that’s what they’re trying to do – and personal attacks have always been Barry’s M.O. so watch for that.

On the other hand, this is a here-and-now example of current foreign policy failure, and it detracts from Barry’s claim that Romney is unqualified because he has little foreign policy experience.

Presidents sometimes need to act swiftly and decisively to save lives; Barry has proven time and again that he’s incapable of that type of thinking and action.

This is a rich opportunity for Romney to hammer Barry on both policy failure and personal shortcomings, as well as making the point that foreign policy is an extension pf personal philosophy and contrasting his to Barry’s.

Jones heads a very small and formerly anonymous congregation in Florida, and the MSM made him a celebrity when he wanted to burn Korans. This is a tactic many of the liberal talking heads take – publicize the more fringe or extreme groups like Jones or the Westboro Baptist Church, and then claim all people who observe religion are like them.

Sorry, MSM – you made Jones into a celebrity for your own twisted political purposes, so now you get to live with the consequences.

Local reporters tracked Sam Bacile to Nakoula Bassely Nakoula, who is probably not Israeli or Jewish, and may in fact be a con man who uses several different names.

The most interesting angle to this story, which is still developing, is that Innocence of Muslims may have made not for any political purposes, but to scam investors out of a few million dollars. If this is true, then Innocence of Muslims may ultimately turn out to be the most famous, and possibly most valuable piece of crap since Mel Brookes dreamed up Spring Time for Hitler for his film The Producers.
