Book: Karl Rove advised Komen to restore Planned Parenthood funding
The author of a new book charges that prominent Republican strategist Karl Rove advised the leader of breast cancer group Susan G. Komen for the Cure to restore funding to Planned Parenthood earlier this year.
Rove’s advice, according to “Planned Bullyhood,” came as Susan G. Komen for the Cure found itself embroiled in a public relations fiasco after announcing it would stop giving money to Planned Parenthood, which has clinics that perform abortions.
In response to protests from pro-choice and other liberal activists, Komen eventually reversed course and announced it would restore funding to Planned Parenthood as the organization did not want to be viewed as political.
Karen Handel — the former Komen senior vice president who resigned during the episode — writes in her book, “Planned Bullyhood,” that Rove was among those advising the organization to reverse course.

Karl Rove’s been off my “nice” list for a long time. Santa feels the same way.

So Rove is not what he seems? Whoda thunk it? Did he advise them with his little white board? Levin has been on Rove’s case for a long time.

I. CAN’T. STAND. HIM. Will not watch Fox when he’s on. I read a long time ago that he made fun of some Christians when they visited the WH. Stinking RINO.

Let’s face it. Neither party cares a whit about people, the truth, or our future as a nominally free people. Both parties have worked for decades to regulate, control, and confiscate more of our wealth to line their own pockets and the pockets of their campaign donors. We, the people, through our complacency and refusal to face the truth are to blame for it is we who have elected these incompetent, greedy, power-lust fools time and time again.

I’ve said it before elsewhere and may have said it here: Karl Rove is an elitist prick for which I have no use.

Given how much money Komen has raked in since its inception and how it is spent, I have nothing but crocodile tears for the enterprise. Komen seems to me to be just another one of those heart string orgs like those ones that show you three-legged, one-eyed dogs and kitties in PSA’s.
“What the Dallas-based foundation spent on staff and administrative expenses included $20 million for advertising and promotion, $14 million for “office expenses’’ and more than $14 million for consulting and professional services. Another $7 million was spent on Nancy Brinker, founder and CEO of Susan G. Komen for the Cure contract labor and $3 million for travel. Komen officials did not return calls and emails seeking comment on Monday.” ~ Lori Stahl, WAPO, 2/12
I guess the idea of Komen is techically correct; they never say they want to actually cure anything, only that they want to “create awareness.” Wow, 20B later and you’d think just about everyone would be aware of breast cancer, right?
And besides, I think there’s something smarmy about “cause marketing” products with a pink ribbon logo. That’s there claim to fame and I think it’s shabby.
So if Rove told them to reverse their stand with PP, maybe he had something else in mind.

Funny, I never thought of Rove as an elite Republican Senators’ wife before.

Tokyo Rove exists only to get back into the WH and next to the levers of power. He’s nothing w/out that position. The fact that Jebby got no where this year is pi$$in’ Karl off.
