This Poll Question Makes Me Want To Punch Someone

As has been noted below, the post-DNC bounce for Obama appears to be, well, landing with a thud. The latest Washington Post poll shows the two candidates neck and neck again. But check out one of the idiotic questions that was asked. Don’t even worry about the answer, just  note the question:

Who would you rather take care of you when you are sick? Obama 49%, Romney 33% in new WaPo-ABC poll.

Who would you rather take care of you when you are sick? Who would you rather take care of you when you’re sick? Are you kidding me?

This is the new “Who would you rather have a beer with?” question. It’s dumb and it will get a skewed result because it would, by its very nature, appeal to an “emotion” voter. And, all else being equal, which voter is more likely to take emotions into account? Yup. Hope and Change, man.

See, being a conservative, if I’d been asked that question, I would have taken it literally and thought, “OK, since I don’t want obama to be president, I’d rather he took care of me so that he’s not available for the post. I’ll take one for the team.”

The fallacy is that Obama has likely never taken care of a sick person in his life, but Romney has. The public perception is exactly opposite reality.

Only Romney has been documented to have actually taken care of people. Obama won’t take care of his own brother; what makes you think he’d take care of me, much less do it well?

Obama Administration Passes New Order Making it easier to seize guns without due process

Filed under News September 11, 2012

It seems the Obama administration is keeping its word on using the Department of Justice to restrict the rights of gun owners in America.

The Washington Times is reporting that the Department of Justice (DOJ) has just given the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) new powers that will make it easier for the ATF to seize American citizens guns without due process of law.

According to our laws, American citizens must be convicted or charged with a crime before the government can seize their firearms. Under these new Obama Administration rules, Due Process just got thrown right out the window.

The ATF has been given the authority to “seize and administratively forfeit property involved in controlled substance abuses.” This means that anyone suspected of substance abuse can now have their firearms seized without even being arrested.

According to the Times, this gives the federal government the power to seize the guns of citizens, even if they are merely suspected of substance abuse. These citizens do not have to be officially charged or arrested. Hell they don’t even have to be guilty.

Under these new rules, you are effectively deemed guilty by default, and will likely never see your property without engaging in a long and costly legal battle with the federal government. For those that think this power won’t be abused, just look at how Tennessee is abusing a similar law and seizing paper currency from people who have never been charged with a crime.

The media are starting to move to “push polling” rather then simply manipulating the sampling and the weighting and the ordering of the questions. A push poll asks questions that tend to push the questionee toward a specific response usually for or against a specific candidate (in a political poll) usually these types of questions or a tainted setup to a question. This is a real escalation by the MSM against Romney and marks a new low by them.
