Polls Are Sh√t

Home - by - September 11, 2012 - 12:20 America/New_York - 14 Comments

I can make a poll do whatever I want, just like the latest CNN poll that showed Obama up.

Republican presidential candidate, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney shakes hands with a NASCAR fan during a rain delay before the start of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Federated Auto Parts 400 at Richmond International Raceway on September 8, 2012.

Take away the partisan shenanigans and Romney is leading overwhelmingly.

The latest CNN/ORC poll released today shows a wider lead for President Obama than the previous CNN/ORC poll but it is doubly skewed. It massively under-samples independents while it also over-samples Democratic voters. The CNN/Opinion Research Corp. poll official reports Obama at 52 to percent and Mitt Romney at 46 percent. Unskewed, the data reveals a 53 percent to 45 percent lead for Romney.

Here’s the fundamental error these polling people are making: They are assuming the turnout R to D will be comparable to 2008. That’s bullshit. If they instead created their samples based on the 2010 Midterms, they would be much closer. If you favor Democrats by 9 to 11 points, and Romney is behind by five, that says quite a bit. Truth is, Republicans are far more fired up, far more committed to voting this time. We want this douche OUT, O*U*T, OUT!!! We didn’t have this kind of fire in 2008. All the enthusiasm is on our side. That’s why I am still convinced Romney is going to win in a landslide.

I was watching Colin Cowherd on ESPNU this morning. He was talking about this very poll and how skewed it was toward the democrats. He said it’s like taking a poll to see if the Ravens or the Steelers was the more popular team and your poll showed the Ravens at 64%. He then said it doesn’t mean much if you asked 64 people from Baltimore.

You know it’s bad for the Enemedia™ and Obama when the sports talk shows are slamming your methodology and questioning the results.

The poll takers (Pole takers for the MFM) do this every year…they are dedicated Kommies. They brag that they gain 15% for their Guy…and we still beat;em but this time its gonna be spectacular.

Be part of history this election, make the Kommiecrats weep

You’re echoing us now BFH. We all just said this on the last blog about polls.

I think polls should not be allowed. All they do is bully public opinion to what the pollster wants the public to believe. They lie….

Polls are bullshit, and are just another ‘tool’ of the Left to try to manipulate things in their favor.
The theory is that people will vote for a “winner”.

Here’s an interesting look at how the WH uses polls…

Look for this to get worse as we get closer to the election and Romney pulls ahead.
People are starting to pay attention now, bumper stickers are appearing, signs are popping up in yards…Come October people will really be getting pumped up.

I live in a rural area of Indiana, and everytime I go into town there is this shitty little pick-up parked in front of the second house on the right on main street. It has 4 Obama 2012 stickers on it, and a “Don’t watch Fox” sticker as well.

I go into town several times a week…That truck never moves. I want to bust the windows out, knowing that the vehicle owner obviously never works and just sits around getting my tax handouts.

Then yesterday early morning (around sunrise) I passed it and noticed that apparently someone else in the town of Lebanon feels (almost) the same way I do…
The truck was covered with about 200 Romney/Ryan stickers…No shit, even the windshield and all the windows. If I hadn’t been on my way to my job I would have pulled over and waited to get a glimpse on the truck owner’s face when he got up around noon to see it.

Screw the damn polls and the lying media behind them. This election has nothing to do with Romney (bless his heart). I’d vote for an old beer bottle, dirty gym sock, or a door knob before I’d vote for that marxist kenyan muslim asshat! NOBAMA! Not Now Not EVER!!!!!

And here, forced out of his hiding spot, the solitary and reclusive Black Republican. Long regarded as merely legend, there have recently been serveral sightings, thus confirming their existence. Their numbers, howerver, are critically low, as there are perhaps less than 100 remaining in the wild.

    Norman E: GREAT article! Thanks.

Too easy to oversample/overweight whatever you want and still make it appear quasi-believable.

    NOT THIS TIME AROUND.

Even legitimate polls don’t factor in the ‘Bradley effect’…therefore skewed results.

Wait until the dems start polling less koolaidians and the “gap” decreases. Then they’re going to have to come up with a new plan. They can’t poll 60% demmorhoids forever. And when they get to 50-50 and Romney has a 5-8 point lead, they may stop polling altogether and just pull numbers out of their @$$.
