Jobs report brings end to Democrats' convention high

BACKWARD

CNN

Friday’s jobs report indicating only 96,000 jobs were created in August brought a quick end to any lingering Democratic euphoria from this week’s party convention, bringing into sharp reality the challenges President Barack Obama will face in the two months remaining until Election Day. The monthly report, one of the few remaining before voters head to the polls November 6, showed the unemployment rate falling to 8.1% as more workers withdrew from the labor force. The 96,000 jobs created were also not enough to keep up with the population entering the workforce.

clinton has got an ad out today saying, “…obama has a plan for rebuilding America from the ground up..” Hasn’t that been the problem from the first?

I wish Romney would spend some of his ad money here in WA state. I don’t like that they just write off the all red and all blue states — ’cause you just never know how many undecideds the Rs could pick up here.

I visited Zilla’s this morning to take a look at the comments from last night. I would have been there except I haven’t used disqus in a while and I forgot my pswd and didn’t want to mess with it. But there were a string of comments about how all the D speakers came from humble beginnings and this vid, borrowed from Gerard Verderleun, just cracked me up:

He titled it: “Democrats reminisce at the DNC”

I live in Eastern Wash. state and maybe, just maybe our state could be in play for the GOP and Oregon as well. I’m praying and hoping this is the case. There are more that stand on our side than than stand on the the side of the democraps. Outside of Seattle and Portland etc., who knows. Its happened before and it can happen again, God willing.

Ok, I may b pissin’ in the wind here, but for anyone who remembers the 80′s movie Sixteen Candles, the first thing that came to mind was the scene where the geek wakes up next to the prom queen in the back seat of the wrecked Rolls Royce with his retainer on after a night of binge drinking. That is how I see these people. Irresponsible babies who partied and wrecked the very expensive classic car.

@cakes — No, you got it right. The sinking feeling in my guts comes from knowing that the “babies” are actually middle-aged men and women who still have a lot of voting opportunities left in their lives. The young, I still hold out hope for.

    Anonymous! Where are you?!

There were 1.47 million NEW unemployment claims in August. (See the graph on the left about halfway down.) Obama “created” 96,000 jobs in August. Hmmmm! Let me do the math for you.

    1,470,000-
    96,000+
    __________
    1,374,000- (net job loss)

What were you saying about the jobs report last night? Oh! That’s right. Obama is your messiah and he’s going to save the economy.

    BWAHAhahahahahahaha!

The only reason I’m laughing is so I don’t cry.

The unemployment report will be released friday November 2nd. It’ll be 7.9%. Bank on it. DNC ads are already cut to run Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon and Tues trumpeting the four year miracle recovery of Obama.

    Get your barf bags out.

    You ask, how so?

“If the participation rate had not dropped so precipitously, unemployment would have risen to 8.4 per cent.”

One promise Obama should have made in his speech is that by the end of his second term, he will have the unemployment down to 4%. With so many dropping out of the work force, that would be a piece of cake.

@Maudie — I believe someone on this blog said the following (it may have been YOU!)

    Unemployment Percent

    August — 8.1
    September — 7.5
    October — 4.9
    November — 11.0
December and after — 12.0 and up; mostly up.

Romney needs to have someone, I think Ryan, as the lead attack dog on this. They need to scour the unemployment numbers and and if they are being faked, hold a presser and tell the truth. Every day if you have to.

Basically, the unemployment numbers are an in-line bar graph with the “official” unemployment rate on the bottom and the “underemployment” rate on top. As the separator bar moves down to show a “lower” unemployment rate, it increases the percent above it.

Unfortunately, the press only reports the bottom number.

    DNC Bigotry

Political conventions almost by definition are forums for bluster, blowhards, and baloney and the 2012 Democrat National Convention was no exception. Still, both on and off stage, the DNC featured such outrageous public exhibitions of religious bigotry and racist sentiment that it must be considered historic.

Factor in Democrat confusions, contradictions, and double reverses and the Charlotte, North Carolina quadrennial event had to have set records, but for all the wrong reasons.

Back when Democrats still acted like Americans, humorist Will Rogers famously said, “I am not a member of any organized political party. I am a Democrat.” The disorganization and the disintegration of the former “party of the people” is showing more and more under the dubious tutelage of President Barack Hussein Obama.

The DNC didn’t showcase a Clint Eastwood equivalent, unless you consider the haggard Bill Clinton comparable to the actor addressing an invisible Barack Hussein Obama’s empty chair at the Republican confab last week. Or, unless you consider the bunches of empty suits and the Dems’ barely- averted humiliation of thousands of empty seats at the Bank of America Stadium as an Eastwood equivalent.

The biggest DNC story was not aging Bubba’s stemwinder or the party’s cowardly retreat to a cozier venue but the shameless displays of religious and racial bigotry among the delegates.

Notorious for being irreligious, the Democrats outdid themselves in their national platform when they deliberately deleted any reference to a deity.

They made that omission more offensive after convention Chairman Villaraigosa was advised that eliminating God in the DNC platform would upset millions of voters. He therefore perpetrated a gross offense against democracy by overruling delegate voice votes against reinstating God.

The majority of the party faithful thrice noisily demonstrated they wanted Dems to have nothing to do with any deity anymore than they wanted to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

See Villaraigosa trample on Democrat democracy and try to get the public to believe their ultra-secular party really believes in God: http://tiny.cc/09g8jw.

Then, a prominent Jewish delegate made his religious bias perfectly clear.

Democrats may be godlessly anti-Christian but that doesn’t necessarily mean they are all devoid of religion. At the same time, some foolishly appear to want to stoke the growing European anti-Semitism in America. . .

RNC needs to pounce on this anemic jobs report. Remind everyone what a REAL recovery looks like – in Sept 1983, Reagan’s plan lead to 1.3 MILLION jobs created. And he was faced with a worse mess left by Carter than our whiner-in-chief.
