Unless that “plan” involves snuffing an awful lot of old people, there’s no saving Medicare – it’s done. It’s simply not an affordable program – people are drawing out for nearly the same amount of time they put in, and they draw out one hell of a lot more.

My poor Mom. She’s in an assisted living center and is terrified that she will loose her doctor. I lied to her and said that he specializes in old people and if he stopped taking Medicare patients, he’s be out of business.
Truth is, he will probably retire instead of trying to live off the income of his Medicare patients.
I’m just praying that when Mitt and Paul are elected and gut Obamascare, they can get to the task of revising Medicare AND Social Security for those of us young enough to benefit (55 and older will keep the same system they were promised).

@Claudia — we are in the same situation with our mothers. It is already becoming next to impossible to find certain specialists that accept Medicare. In fact, I told my mom she may want to go ahead with a knee replacement next year because by 2014 she won’t receive approval.

Same here. My MIL’s doctor has already announced that she will stop dealing with Medicare as of next spring. We’re not sure what will happen after that.
