CHARLOTTE, N.C. (TheBlaze/AP) — Police surrounded a group of protesters Monday who blocked an intersection along a route used by delegate buses near the Democratic National Convention. At least one person was put in handcuffs.

The group of about 200 protesters began the march around 12:30 Monday. The group was intentionally heading outside of a designated parade route and didn’t have a permit to march. They had only made it a few blocks from a city park where they are camping and gathering when hundreds of officers began arriving.

Officers made a barricade of mountain bikes to stop the march’s progress, surrounded the group and attempted to corral them into an area near the park designated for protester speeches.

“Oklahoma delegate David Ratcliff, 43, said he‘d been waiting for a bus but found out that it wasn’t running so he walked over to see what was happening. Ratcliff said that while he doesn’t agree with protesters whose signs said Obama is a war criminal, he was encouraged to see people expressing themselves.”

Yeah right, I’m sure Mr Ratcliff would be encouraged if the protesters were “teabaggers.”

    Dear Captain:

You should know by now that protesting and exercising your constitutional rights will not be tolerated by the democrats. We here at the Democratic party do not recognize the constitution.

@Nutjob: “You should know by now that protesting and exercising your constitutional rights will not be tolerated by the democrats. We here at the Democratic party do not recognize the constitution.”

Actually, when it comes to protesting, the Left is far better about using the Constitution. They want to have a rally, they exercise their rights of free speech and assembly. They just show up and do it. It’s the Right that concedes speech and assembly are merely privileges by applying for permits and such.
