So that’s where the Pink Floyd pigs went.
Or is that the ghost of Pigford?
I thought Hillary was skipping the convention?
Diogenes wins the prize! Poifect!
When Pigfords fly.
@ MaryFromMarin- ya’ beat me to it. I haven’t seen those piggys since 1994.
“First Lady MICHELLE OBAMA”–gosh , it’s like the supertitles in opera.
Wouldn’t it be fun if someone hacked that? And posted what the speakers were actually thinking, instead of just what they were saying?
Oooooooh, Mr. Hat. Feeling especially evil tonight, are you?
I’m still offering $50 for the IP to the computer running the stage graphics.
An interesting psychological experiment to see if an animal shows self recognition when it sees a likeness of itself.
Tomorrow we’ll run the same test on the pig.
DWS hiding in plain sight.
Xavier, you may have to increase your offer. On the radio today, Schnitt offered $10,000 for the convention audio guy to play “Three Little Indians” and “Half Breed” when Elizabeth Warren is introduced.
They couldn’t bring in that pig until after the Jumah was over.
Believe it or not :
What’s with the “Kateshon” business?
Stranded in Sonoma
Shouldn’t the piggies at democrat events look like this?
Yes, we all need lessons on the American Dream from a 3rd world socialist/mexican wannabe mayor in San Antonio. My grandma this, that, ad nauseum. The usual over-used we were poor but proud, we get it, we get it. Having lived in San Antonio for over 30 years total, its worn out. Unlike former liberal darling Cisneros, maybe this one can keep his pants down scandals out of the spotlight.
All Mooch’s fake stuttering “passion” was absolutely gag inducing. She’s really been coached up and prettied up since 2008. Your tax dollars at work. Much of her message was off socialist scrip though, surprising.
Is there ANYTHING about the current federal gov that ISN’T a lie? Amazing what these seditious, treasonous *ssholes have been able to get away with!! Wake up America..
I was banned for alleged racial slurs, bigotry against Mormonism and Islam, calling for Obama’s execution, and rude behaviour against a lot of people there.
I changed my moniker from Katechon to Kateshon, and it worked.
Some folks there are very astute about polling analysis, and it helps me trading the Race on Intrade.com
*Katechon* is a greek word used in the Apocalypse, designing the forces slowing the effectiveness of Satan.
gag me with a spork
couldn’t swallow nothing outta that place
Btw I just wanna be clear : I’ve got nothing about Mormonism. I don’t know nothing about it, but the Mormons I’ve met were awesome people.
I see the lipstick on a pig but why is there a swine hanging from the ceiling?
“racial slurs, bigotry against Mormonism and Islam, calling for Obama’s execution, and rude behaviour”
The Greek word I like is Agape.
You’re calling me by secret Secret Service code? How dare you!
Could Mormonism be a form of Christianity inherent to America’s exceptionalism?
LOVE! But different than charis, grace. That’s interesting. Hmmm, can you quote some strophes where the word *agape* appears?
dapenguin in OIHO
what is that fat pig doing up there oh and I am also curious about that flying pink inflatable thing as well.
I guess the koranimals didn’t show up.
Andrea Shea King
I see there’s a typo above the mooch — they spelled Lady correctly.
No strophes – I’m no Greek scholar – but it is the Greek word used in John 3:16.
Here’s how I came across it years ago:
I needed a veterinarian in Williamsburg, Va. and found one called Agape. On the counter inside was a paper with an explanation of the name. The doctor who had run the practice for many years came down with a severe illness which required expensive and lengthy treatment. He could not afford it and thought he would lose the business, which was not only his livelihood, but his life. His friends, neighbors, and customers raised enough money to allow him to pay his bills and keep the veterinary practice; after his recovery, in gratitude he renamed it Agape Veterinary Clinic. Agape is the love of all of mankind, or of God – as opposed to brotherly love and romantic love. It’s actually a concept that has a lot of religious connotations – you might be interested in reading up on it.
Michelle on screen and a 3D replica hanging over the crowd.
Thank you Xavier.
” When 1 John 4:8 says “God is love,” the Greek New Testament uses the word agape to describe God’s love.”
I’m thinking the difference between charis (grace, as in charity) and agape is that charis relates to a promise, an covenant — whereas agape is pure love, beyond grace, promise, exchange.
I’ll do some research in the next days, and I’ll keep you posted if I find something worthy.
I see the pig as a symbol of pork barrel politics. Spreadin the wealth around. Another DNC promise to take money from the people who earned it and give to someone who did not work for it. Which pretty much sums up their plans.
@Andrea Wow, that’s an interesting blog you have there, ma’am!
I’ve always heard Agape contrasted with Eros.
Roughly speaking- earthly, human love in contrast with divine love. Agape being the transcendent nature.
But in the New Testament, there is no mention of eros, is there?
” Who Is Funding the Purchase of the $35 million Beachfront Hawaiian Estate for Barack and Michelle Obama to Move into Come January 2013?”
I do not know. I remember the terms came up when we were going through The Knight’s Tale in Chaucer. (English major way back when)
@Katechon and @Xavier–
“Agape” is Greek; “caritas” is Latin. They mean essentially the same thing, just in different languages. (cf. http://www.newworldencyclopedia.org/entry/agape )
Have either of you read “The Four Loves” by C.S. Lewis? He writes about storge (affection), philia (friendship), eros (romance), and agape (unconditional love, also known as “caritas”, or charity–which is one of the seven heavenly virtues).
Charis is Greek ; caritas is Latin.
Agape and charis are different Greek words, and probably refer to different concepts in the New Testament, written in Greek.
No, “eros” does not appear in the New Testament.
From Mary’s link :
” In early Christianity, agape also signified a type of eucharistic feast shared by members of the community.”
” St. Augustine believed caritas to contain not only agape but also eros, because he thought it includes the human desire to be like God.”
Sorry, my error. Yes, “charis” means “grace” or “favor”. You were comparing/contrasting “agape” and “charis” ? Why is that?
Maybe I should have stayed watching from the sidelines.
Thanks. I was pretty sure charity was in there somewhere, and that’s why I originally mentioned it – having read a few of Katechon’s late night offerings where Charity appears regularly.
I’ll have to see if our little library has The Four Loves.
Any of St. Augustine’s writings that contain anything at all relating to “eros” should be read keeping his early life in mind!
“da mihi castitatem et continentiam, sed noli modo”
You’re welcome to jump in – I don’t know how much longer I’ll be awake anyway. I’m going to take a gander at that link you posted first though.
@Mary, you’re very helpful.
I was comparing them because those 2 words could refer to 2 different concepts of love, beyond the agape / eros bipolarity. That potential difference intrigues me — since I’ve always kinda assumed there was only one word referring to grace in the New Testament : charis. Why use this word *agape* rather than charis? Could it signal a different concept of love, beyond grace?–
A Prayer for a President: Psalms 109:8
You got a problem with praying?
If so, that’s fine in the United States of America where your freedom to pray or not pray, to practice or not practice a religion, is enshrined in our Constitution’s Bill of Rights although that enshrinement has taken some body blows from the Obama administration.
Still, despite Obama’s assaults on the Constitution, few Americans would take offense over a prayer–aside from atheists and Obama’s Secret Service.
Longtime Texas resident Milton Nietsch was inspired to offer a simple prayer for America’s beleagured president on his Victoria, Texas billboard. It read, ”Pray For Obama,” an invocation flanked by a drawing of hands clasped in prayer and another of the president in profile.
It wasn’t so much those parts of Nietsch’s billboard that attracted the attention of the Secret Service as it was the references beneath them. And, it wasn’t so much the mention of Psalm 109:8 that bothered the people charged with protecting the life and limb of the president as much as it was the verses that follow 109:8 in the Old Testament but didn’t even appear on the billboard.
Most normal Americans would react, well, normally, to Nietsch’s innocuous, prayerful wish but, then again, life in ObamaWorld is no longer exactly normal by most traditional standards where religion and Christianity in America are under ceaseless attack.
In ObamaWorld, government is now authorized to suspend and/or revoke our freedom to practice our religion as we see fit, religiosity is regarded by many in power as a sociological aberration, and Mitt Romney’s Mormon religion is being used in an attempt to destroy his bid for the presidency.
Compounding America’s religious confusions, millions of Americans still believe Obama is a liar when he says he is a Christian who mainly takes his family to church during an election year.
Obama’s Secret Service apparently has little to occupy its time so, in lieu of protecting the president from bodily harm and tracking down real dangers, became all exercised over Psalm 109:8 which reads, “Let his days be few, and let another take his office”, because of the biblical sentiments that follow that verse. . .

Ooh, there’s berlet! You know it’s a good thread when berlet appears.
I just ordered “The Four Loves” from Amazon (along with “Till We Have Faces”, another stunner from Lewis, but one I did NOT already own, although I have read it). I was introduced to Lewis’ “The Four Loves” when I was too young, emotionally and spiritually, to really appreciate it, but I felt that it was important. I have heard it referenced and discussed many times since, and Lewis’ other writings have had had a profound impact on me and my spiritual walk. So your discussion this evening may bring more “charis” into my life soon.
The swine was hanging from the ceiling to keep the Muzztards away
how do you say pig in greek?
It seems that the older, stricter pre-Christian meaning of agape implied comparison to philia and eros (much like the terms up and down are complementary) but that after the Early Christians had co-opted and expanded the definition it could stand on its own without the need for comparisons as a structure – which would account for eros not appearing in the New Testament.
I guess the point here is that we’re looking at a very old word that has undergone a lot of changes, and mixing older meanings with newer language (like the New Testament) may be misleading.
” how do you say pig in greek?”
“You fucked up old hag, ha ha, charade you are
You radiate cold shafts of broken glass…”
@Xavier exactly. What I’ll do is to look only in the New Testament, compiling all the instances of both agape and charis, and then contrasting them. That should be fun.
@Xavier — btw, your picture reminds me of my new foe. She is a very angry cat when she sees me, and she lost a nail in my flesh today. I’d be dead now if she was big as an average dog!!
Do you read Greek?
“how do you say pig in Latin?”
“It seems that the older, stricter pre-Christian meaning of agape…”
You may be right–but I’ve just become totally distracted by Ann Barnhardt’s latest. OMG. The perils of wandering around the web in between posting.

At least tonight’s potential insomnia won’t be YOUR fault.
Where is PETA?
Roger Waters can sing his ass OFF, but he’s been 180 degrees DEAD WRONG on EVERY political issue he’s EVER sung about… so I guess that’s why Pink Floyd was there.
DEMOCRAPS on the wing…
I saw Roger Water’s “Dark Side Of The Moon” tour back in 2008. He had written on his flying pig “Vote Democrat.”
I appreciate the delicious irony now.
Boobie the Rocket Dog
What an interesting discussion!
From this: “I was banned for alleged racial slurs, bigotry against Mormonism and Islam, calling for Obama’s execution, and rude behaviour against a lot of people there.”
To this: “What I’ll do is to look only in the New Testament, compiling all the instances of both agape and charis, and then contrasting them. That should be fun.”
And, how does one pronounce “Μπαράκ?” I get ‘Mparack’ which appears to sound like “pork.”
I have never seen so many bible scholars on a post trashing the demoroids. You guys really know your stuff. I’m afeared to comment.
Heck, no, @bugaboo brainwave–go ahead and comment all you want! It’s all good around here.
Jump on in. I’m so dumb I can’t even spell scholar.
My God, Moochie didn’t tell us what aisle of the grocery store we can find Pink Pig. Oink!
I never got around to responding to your last posts (having been poleaxed by Ann B’s latest).
I can’t find where “charis” is translated as “love”. Check this:
And “agape” is everywhere translated as “love” in the NT:
So back up a little and explain why you think “charis” should be translated “love”, or “agape” translated as “grace”.
