California bill to ban therapies to “change” sexual orientation in children

WND

(Washington Times) A California bill to ban therapies to “change” sexual orientation in children and teens passed its final legislative hurdle late Thursday and now goes to California Gov. Jerry Brown for his signature.

“Few things are more offensive than child abuse and, frankly, that’s what these types of psychological treatments are,” said Sen. Ted W. Lieu of Torrance, author of Senate Bill 1172, which he introduced in February. “These attempts are quackery, and this kind of psychological abuse of children must stop.”

Mr. Brown has not taken a position on SB 1172, and he has until Sept. 30 to sign, veto or allow its protections to take effect without his signature on Jan. 1, 2013. If enacted, the measure would be the first of its kind in the nation.

    Next step: “Encouraging” kindergarteners to come out of the closet and learn of dildos and anal sex (all without parental knowledge, of course).

    “Mr. Brown has not taken a position on SB 1172″

    Waiting to see which way the poll wind blows I suppose. Politicians like this would have to see how the public feels about things like arson and pedophilia before they took a firm stand.

    What the hell is this world coming to?? This is the clearest example of Bizarro World I think I’ve ever seen. This kind of stuff depresses me.

    Sorry – off topic, but while I was over at WND, saw this story about Jason Biggs http://www.wnd.com/2012/09/biggs-wife-hire-prostitute-to-spice-up-marriage/

    All the more reason for Nickelodean to fire him.

    Based on the headline I initially thought the law forbides therapy for sex changes (which would be saving troubled souls from mutalating themselves). That would be amazing for California.

    But after reading Zonga’s comment and the article further it looks like gay activist are going to silence efforts to create an alterative for those who seek to live a different (healthier) “lifestyle.”

    Part of the goals of Communism found HERE . Check out the link (unless you’re already depressed). #26 is noteworthy for this article, but all if them are disturbing considering how far they have “Progressed” toward destroying the US since these goals were discovered in 1963.

    ….
    22. Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all forms of artistic expression. An American Communist cell was told to “eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings, substitute shapeless, awkward and meaningless forms.”

    23. Control art critics and directors of art museums. “Our plan is to promote ugliness, repulsive, meaningless art.”

    24. Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them “censorship” and a violation of free speech and free press.

    25. Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV.

    26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as “normal, natural, healthy.”

    27. Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with “social” religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity, which does not need a “religious crutch.”

    28. Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of “separation of church and state.”

    29. Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis.

    Ban, shit! They should put the sons of bitches in prison for just coming up with such an evil abusive idea. That is child abuse. They need a damn senate bill for that?
    California so pisses me off.

    I’m not sure I understand what they are trying to do — I usually don’t when California is evolved. So just to be clear, I believe anybody who attempts in any way to coerce a child into even thinking about becoming like the opposite sex should be arrested for child abuse.
    I read the Washington times article and it still doesn’t make sense to me.
    Child abuse is a crime. Jail the bastards plain and simple.

    Mess with my kids head and you will pay for it!

    This is what has me confused:

    “If enacted into law, traditional-values advocates are preparing a court challenge to block it. But gay-rights advocates are cheering the measure for ending therapies they consider fraudulent and abusive to gay, lesbian and bisexual youth.”

    I don’t know if it is talking about therapy to turn a kid gay or to change the kid back to normal.
    The queers are cheering for the bill so I am guessing the banned therapy was turning the kids un-queer and that made the queers unhappy.

    Am I missing something? Any ideas on that?

    Mountain Dog, taking a conflicted child to a therapist that may attempt to, I dunno, affirm biological norms would be illegal and probably a hate crime to boot.

    But finding a teacher in the health class or sex-ed venue that would validate perversions is state-mandated.

    Yeah, I’m framing the issue in a slanted way. Sue me. If you’re fighting fair, you’ll likely lose.

    @Mountain Dog–

    Maybe you’ve got it clear now, but this bill has one simple aim: to make it ILLEGAL for therapists to counsel a child who wants to avoid and/or get out of the homosexual lifestyle. Even if that is what the child and/or the parent/guardian wants, it would be illegal.

    I know about this because my husband is a therapist here in Marin County. He says if Gov. Brown signs this into law, he will ignore it.

    Of course, the only way this will get enforced is if the government sends out “plants” to test if therapists are obeying the law. Could get interesting.

    @RosalindJ

    Thank you both for your replies. That is what I had assumed but just did not want to believe it.

    I have to say, I have read the Bible and the Torah cover to cover and can only think of one word that would sum up the gay agenda in California politics, and that word is “abomination”.
    If they are trying to bring a mighty curse upon the state of California, they are doing a fantastic job and will likely succeed.

    Tonight I think I will pray for the children who are the main victims of this insanity. I am sickened.

    @Mountain Dog–

    Your prayers are absolutely needed. It is the children and young people who will suffer the most with this travesty.

    If you know people in California, you could ask them to call/contact Gov. Brown’s office and urge him NOT to sign SB 1172 (the Gay Therapy Ban bill) into law. His contact information:

    (916) 445-2841 (office phone)

    (916) 558-3160 (his FAX number)

    http://gov.ca.gov/m_contact.php (to send email)

    Thank you for passing on this information.
